What repitable shops have them in the Atlanta area? I come to Lawrenceville, GA pretty frequently on the weekends, and I would really like to get my car dyno'd. Who has the best prices, locations, etc. Thanks, I will post numbers when finished.

I can think of three of them off the top of my head; Forged Performance, Orton, and Dyno4mance.

We have a dyno dynamics. It's a low reading dyno but the best dyno available for tuning purposes.

TopSpeed and Battleground also have AWD dynos, but they are both DynoJet I believe which aren't very accurate for tuning, but generally read higher.

I just want to get a good baseline to know where I am at. Walbro 255, BR intercooler, BR full hard pipes, BR intake, HKS 272's, ARP head studs, meth. injected, tuned at 21 psi.

The thing with getting a baseline is that in order to see accurate gains every time you add something else is that you have to use the same dyno each time. So therefore it doesn't matter which one you use just as long as you use the same one each time.

I plan on doing more. I bought the car like this, so its a base line for me.

I recommend Dyno4mance or Forged. They won't give you inflated numbers like Topspeed or Batlground.

I recommend Dyno4mance or Forged. They won't give you inflated numbers like Topspeed or Batlground.

It depends on your definition of "inflated." Dynos are tuning tools and are not meant to be compared (numbers wise) with other dynos ... even if they are the same make.

If you want to bash someone for inflated numbers, question the manufacturers for posting the initial inflated numbers that aren't at the wheels. The Evo is rated at 287 and mine dyno'd at 265 @ TopSpeed ... that's probably 230-ish on a Mustang or DynoDynamics.

Mouse, it doesn't matter who you go to for benchmarking as long as you keep going to the same place. Many "dyno queens" love DynoJet because of the artificially high numbers (in comparison ... I know, I know). It's all in your preference.

Well, if that is the case. Who is the best shop for customer relations. If I plan on visiting on more than one occation, I would like to enjoy my time where I spend my money. Any suggestions, horror storys, great tuners? I am looking at making around 450-500 safe Whp after everything is said and done. So, where is the good tuners?

Dyno4mance and Forged Performance are your best bet for dyno tuners in the area. If you are looking for a road tune then you might want to consider Touring Bubble. The other option is e-mail tuning and I would recommend Mellon Tuning.

mouse, we would be mor than happy to do the work/tuning on your car. I will warn you that you will not make 450-500 on our dyno without a built motor. As mentioned before our dyno reads 10-15% low. In many cases with higher hp cars there is even a larger % difference. We believe we have the best tuning dyno and we are not as concerned about the numbers. You could very easily make 400whp here and go down to a dynojet and make 440-460. It's not always the same % difference.

I can vouch for top notch customer relations @ Forged. Everyone there is extremely helpful and curtious. It's obvious that they like their job and like working there. I work in the service industry so there are little things I notice pertaining to customer relations that may seem small but make a huge impact on the way the customer percieves his experience. The biggest thing to me is if they remember your name. Only slightly less important is that they don't treat you like a nobody if you are only spending $50 as apposed to $2000. Forged stands out to me.

Ryan is Forged familiar with tuning MAF-T Pro on the Evo? Can't believe I didn't think to ask earlier. I will need to get retuned eventually and need to start planning ahead. If so can you give me a idea of price.

Touring, I understand what your saying. I was just saying I thought the DynoDynamics were more consistent with numbers as well. I'm still learning about dynos though lol.

All dynos can be "calibrated" for inflated numbers though. They all have correction factors and setting for the calculations themselves that can be skewed. Sadly, many tuners have had their dynos set up like this to get more business ... for instance, a Mustang that reads 15hp above another Mustang in the area will draw more customers since it gives the illusion that the tuner there is better. This is similar to allegations against an Evo tuner in Florida. It's a sad cycle.

I don't think anyone in the Atl area does this though. I've heard rumors that one DynoJet shop reads the highest, but have seen no proof.

I agree. A road tune is the best way to tune your car. It recreates the most realistic daily driving environments.
