Does anyone think that the OEM stance of the Evo make it look like a 4x4 truck? I'm seriously thinking about getting some decent springs to help the look without totally killing the performance.

Discuss.

yeah, everybody is always asking when im going mudding next.... as long as it isnt slammed, it wont hurt performance will it? as long as it is re-cambered and aligned and blah blah blah...... right?

Springs were my first mod. The car was stock for like, 6 days. Stock ride height is perfect for mud boggin ;) There are quite a few people who race on matched springs and shocks with great success. SmikeEvo on evom for instance runs bilstein HD dampers with swift spec r springs and swift sways. Its pretty much common knowledge that the ONLY springs to get for the Evo are Swifts or GTWorx. Everything else either has too low of a drop or too light of spring rate and will prematurely where out shocks and destroy the factory geometry. Even using aftermarket springs is highly debateable. Some contest that even lowering a little will hamper performance. I personally think the people that notice the small imperfections that aftermarket springs may add should prolly be on some expensive coils anyway...

stock is good. spring is ok...

get real nice coils if you wanna appreciate the mod.
springs can only satisfy so much.

front and rear sways with roll center kit will be nice.

while you is at it get the bumpsteer and rear trailing arm bushing too.

adjust the camber -3 on front, -1.7 rear. then +.5 toe out and rear toe to 0.

when you get that done you will dominate autox. or any track events.

...buy some springs, lol. You won't regret it, or if you got big money get yourself the EFDC or something similar......

You also forgot about the Tanabe GF210s. I did a lot of research before I bought mine and the top three that came up were the Swift, GTWorx, and the Tanabe.

Brett I would recommend the Swifts in your case :) I think you would like the ride height aswell. Not slammed, but lower by a good margin.

Yeah, I did forget Tanabe. I had the GF210 on my VIII. They were nice springs with a PERFECT drop asthetically. I do think they are a little too low to run an aggressive offset.

They are what I am running and I like them.

I will have to check out pics of the swifts again. I'm wondering how much of a drop they give.

^ Hard to argue with that! My civic was tucked. I know that too much of a drop hurts performance b/c the suspension bottoms out, but I also like the look of the Tanabes. Tough choices...

Incorrect, they were the result of tracking a car on shitty wheels. It's common knowlege that Rotas are some of the weakest wheels made, period.

Hey hey now Ryan, Don't hate on us with Rotas. But seriously, my rotas will be my pimp street rims. I am going to PC my stocker bright ass blue and track those. Maybe stronger, and lighter. i have seen some race teams track Rotas, so what ev

Haha I just like giving Dan crap. :D But what race teams use Rotas? They are notorious for warping and breaking on the track. Honestly the worst track wheel I have ever seen. There's a reason they are so cheap.

There is a company on evom that uses them on the track. I believe they drive Subies. Not to mention I don't track my car so I could give a rat's ass on how they perform on a track. I know for a fact I didn't pay an arm and a leg like some dumbasses did to get the wheels they wanted.

lol one of my fav quote.

problem with rotas is that they are on a bit heavy side....

just get some used megan coils... they will be better than any other springs you can ever get.
