OK, I'm at 6500 miles on my new EVO X and I need a new clutch per the dealership. They are going to charge me $1675 ($383 for the clutch the rest for labor). Any who, I'm new to manuals and plus I was out doing something stupid. Learned my lesson! Is there a place near my area (Mcdonough) that people would recommend me to get a better deal on labor. I Plan on getting after market clutch, but I have no ideas where to start. I was looking at Clutchmaster clutches or going to Clutch Exchange in Convington/Conyers? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Josh

Well first of all, welcome to the site. I'm not to familiar with aftermarket clutches for the X. If they are anything like the VIII/IX then look at ACT or Exedy and your best bet is to have either Forged Performance or Dyno4mance assist you with the install.

Yeah, Glad I could make it here too. Guess I'll check those three shops out and see what prices they come up with. Thanks!

Give me a call at Forged Performance 770-792-0202 and ask for Ryan. We are only open half a day tomorrow (8-2) and closed new years day. Any other time we are open mon-fri 8-6. I can set you up with a good clutch and install for a good price ;) The OEM clutch is not all that great anyways. An exedy, ACT, or Fidanza would set you up much better.

if you pay more than $400 for a clutch job you is paying too much.

Don't forget we're talking about a X. It may not be the same. Anyhow if you know someone who can hook him up for $400 post em up. I'm sure he'd like to talk to them.;)

Where did you find it for $400? Its a 8 hour job + time with the ACD. Most shops charge $700-$800 in labor, and thats pretty standard.

I paid around 1300 for my clutch job with the clutch, so that was 800 for labor and 500 for the clutch. The X may be different like said. Also you know the mod bug will bite you sooner or later, so you may as well just get an upgraded one :D
Also, welcome mate!

Last he told me at work, he hasn't yet. That was about a week ago. I thinking he is saving up the money to get it done.

sorry about the delayed post. Yeah I'm saving the money, don't know which shop. I know somebody that had his own shop and worked on a lot of evos. Not sure if he has worked on the X. But he's going to charge 500$ for labor. So I was thinking about getting the spec stage 2 clutch. But then again I was thinking about Clutch Exchange my friend mentioned that and they will build one. I'll have to call and see what the prices are. Right now its looking sharp collecting dust in the garage. its drivable but i don't want to get it out and have it fubar while driving. Any who sorry about this diarrhea of the mouth, just a hot topic of mine right now. Oh yeah going to call the 1-800 number to see if they can tell the dealership to fix it. Doesn't hurt to try.

I wish you best of luck getting things resolved quickly. I know just how you feel sitting there looking at a car you can't drive.
