nasty spoiler

Okay, I bought my Evo used last year. I got the dealer to deduct cash from the price due to some flaws in maintenance on the car...faded clear coat on the brembo brake calipers, curb rash on the wheels, cigarette hole in the seat.....etc. But the biggest and nastiest problem is the spoiler, the carbon fiber appears sun damaged. Is there a fix besides replacing it?

clear coat it again. i took mine to mitsu and they replaced it fo free 2 weeks ago under warranty.

ya, its just your clear coat. There is actually no damage to the carbon fiber itself, no sun damage, etc. I believe it occurs from getting a crack in your clear coat and then air or water gets into it abd starts spreading. Ive seen many different cases, Alan actually stripped his entire spoiler, and even the sides are cf now.

If you just want to get it re-cleared to keep the full carbon fiber spoiler you'll have to pay out of pocket. I have a friend at Ed Voyles and im gonna talk to him and see if i can just get it re-cleared under warranty. It'll cost me 40 bucks to get it re-done, but if i dont have to pay why do it? lol

well the bumper to bumper is gone on this thing and I don't want to get a IX wing (which is what I hear they'll try and give you) I could check with a body shop on getting it recoated then right?

if you've got the VIII they wont try to give yuo a nine. Knowing mitsu, they would probably say, if you want the IX ytou have to pay more.... i got mine 2 weeks ago, and they didnt try to play the IX game on me. they got the VIII one straight up.

easiest thing is just sand it down to the carbon fiber on the top and have a body shop we finish it for u, well not the easiest but it only takes an hour maybe to strip the clear coat off of the top, or u can have the body shop do that also, or get mitsu to recoat it for u thats the easiest, lol

Ed, they really gave you a full carbon fiber VIII wing? The reason i ask is because i thought mitsu just fully stopped making them. Also how many miles are on your car?

yes, its full. of course they painted the side part where our wings regularly are painted but its full..

and they said they had more in stock...

trip, they will get one with no paint and paint it. thats why i had to take mine off. they needed to match the paint, so intead of giving them the whole car, they settled for just the wing and matched it off of that.

That'll work for me! Hell if its just a plain unpainted carbon fiber wing ill just have them clear coat it and leave the all carbon look!
