And damn am I happy with the results!!! Especially with the way the transmission feels! I had BG Synchroshift in the trans. before and wasn't to impressed. Then when my clutch was done just 10k ago they used OEM mitsu fluids and I noticed it got choppy quite quickly. I just put in some Redline MTL and the difference is night in day over the 2 fluids. Incredibly smooth shifts and I had a slight grind going into 3rd and low RPM's which is now gone. Also the decel noise in 4th and 5th gears on the highway is greatly reduced. It doesn't sound like my trans. is going to grenade on me. I of course stuck with Diaqueen for the t-case and rear diff.
I think next time I need to do the fluids I'm going to buy into the hype and try AMSoil for everything. The trans, transfer case and rear diff.

I went from Royal Purple to Redline MT90 and couldn't believe the improvement. I used to have the typical 4th to 5th gear grind but after putting in Redline it went away. Of course like you I only use OEM fluids for my differentials.

I've used AMSoil before because I can get it on post but have since gone with Redline.

I have right now all Motul fluids.
Transmission 75w90 Motul 300
Transfer case and read diff take Motul PA 90
If anybody want to use Motul on their Evo's don't use 75w90 all around like some threads on evolutionm said. It is wrong fluid for TC and rear diff since EVO has LSD's so you have to use PA 90. It comes in 2L bottles but you will use just over half of it.
PA 90 it's specially design for LSD's, it is straight Diaqueen replacement with better high load characteristic.
75W90 Gear 300 takes a little longer to warm up than stock fluid and even longer than Royal Purple but once wormed up works perfect.

Wow, i was totally opposite. I put redline in and my 2nd was very notchy. I've since put in amsoil in tc and diff. and castrol syntorq lt in my tranny. It's great so far and way better than the redline i used before.

Syntorq is great stuff for the MR's. Was this on your MR or your GSR?

Go with AMSOIL ... drink the Kool-Aid. Do it ... DO IT!
Glad you're happy with the fluid change. It's sad that some people overlook these things ...

Yeah redline is not he best, Royal Purple is a little better, I had both in my Evo's and Redline isn't too good. I am very happy with Motul so far. You guys can get it cheap locally at Forged. They have all Motul line, 300, PA 90, racing motor oils, fuel system cleaners etc.

I am gonna change my motor oil to 10w40 next. Then I am gonna have 100% Motul in my car.

I started getting this moaning sound when downshifting today so I went ahead and changed all my fluids. I put Mobil 1 in the engine, Redline MT90 in the transmission, and Diaqueen in the differentials.

I don't know yet. I haven't taken my car for a drive yet. I'm taking my daughter to an event in about an hour. Once I get back I'll let you know if it worked.

I drove back and the moan is still there. I'm wondering if it is time for a new clutch. I plan on getting the Exedy Twin. Does anybody know of a good place to get it?

exedy twin might be too much for you car.
try ACT hdss organic disk

Why too much? I am running Exedy Twin on my car and it's just fine.

600 hp rated clutch? not to mention the price?
i think he will be better off going ACT. which still has more than enough hp rating for his car. and 1/3 of the price.
unless he has a 600+hp monster and he isnt tellin us about it. :P

average price on exedy twin = 2100$
average price on ACT with ACT lighter flywheel. = $700

Exedy Twin doesn't cost 2100$ max price I've seen was 1700$, usually you can get them around 1400$, you are thinking about some carbon stuff not the regular Exedy Twin.
Here look at this:
http://www.500whp.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=26_33_74&products_id=60
And that is expensive.
I have to agreed that ACT will be much chaper, but with clutch I will say there is no money saving. And by the way so what that clutch is rated 600hp that is flywheel rating. And that is the point when clutch will start to tear apart, so you safe when you run 400hp and then your clutch also will last longer. From other side I've seen people tearing apart twin plate carbon-carbon clutches on cars with 600hp so it really depends also how you drive.
Anyway nice to argue with you :))

i was lookin at the triple one...
i have not tried the exedy twin but from what i hear the engagement can be a lil bothersome.
ACT on other hand feels almost like stock but it just grabbs better.
and its rated for 450hp i think.
to me its not worth spending the extra 700$ for something that can be had for less.
im not saying the exedy is a bad clutch, just saying ACT is good.
and i like it.
i had my stock clutch on for 50k miles and still were in good shape. it just didnt hold the power when launching...

i'm using the syntorq in my mr right now and it's been great for the 2k miles so far. I like it a lot better than the redline i used to have. As for the gsr, never had it long enough to change out the fluids..haha. Bought brand new and only had 12k miles when i traded it in.

Well thats probably why. The MR's don't like the Redline for some reason.

ACT Sprung 6-puck is rated for 650 ft/lb and you can get it for $650 w/ a flywheel. That's the only setup I'm considering right now. Even if that's flywheel rated it's still good for 500+ ft/lb.

The price isn't a concern. I would rather buy a good clutch the first time and not have to worry about not having enough bite because my horsepower is too high. Touringbubble is right, the highest I've seen the Exedy Twin is ~$1700. I've read too many stories of people having high rpm lockout on the ACTs as well.

the lockout issues that I've heard about on the ACT were related directly to the HD street. I haven't heard of any issues with the 6-puck.
I'm starting a new thread on clutches to keep this on topic.

I also changed mine after my first tow, but I had the dealer do it. He commented that the oil they took out was very dirty. I just returned from a 2500 mile tow, I think Im going to do it again total 17,000 miles.

stock fluids get dirty fast. that means its not lubricating well...
i put in amsoil and its clean even after 8k miles...
and it was a hard 8k miles...
when the fluid you put in comes out clean after the abuse i put the car through that means its doing its job lubricating and cleaning
