does anyone know any shops that know how to tune with the tephra patch. I'm thinking about getting a meth kit and the tephra patch so i can switch in between maps. I wanna keep the tune i have now for one map and tune for another map for meth. Does anyone know if dyno4mance or batlground is familiar with this?

I would highly suggest you reconsider meth. Its not worth the risk on our cars. I made the same mistake :( As for tephra, Im not sure who tunes it, dyno4mance seems to tune almost anything for Evo's

I run the Tephra 5.1 patch on my car with the harness, but it's not connected to a Meth failsafe. I can tune it for you, but I'm in Alabama. D4M might be a good place to start near ATL as Ryan said.

d4m is high $$ and far away.
topspeed and touringbubble is your best bet.
i prefer touringbubble. but topspeed is closer.
meth = shortend life of the engine. dramatically.
i would never ever buy a car thats been on meth unless its free.

Sam, you can do what I'm probably going to do which is a pump gas map and a race gas map. That way you don't have to worry about meth fouling your engine, but on another note there are tons of people on EvoM that have run meth for years and have had no problems. I believe even a member here is using it currently. I think the reason people are blowing their engines on meth is because they are tuning it to aggressively.

The issue with meth is that it can fail. Plain and simple. The tank goes dry, the nozzle gets clogged ... boom. Also, if you're mixing it yourself and mix too lean it can cause issues. The ECU can only protect itself so much ...

if you want to be tuned by touring bubble... its up to him but i think we are trying to get a few cars and he'll come in a for a weekend and tune you... its just we need 8 cars for him to be worth it... he really knows what he is doing... i'd recommend him as well... didn't know if touringbubble wanted me to start a thread...? and see who all is interested and what time period we are looking at...

Start a thread if you'd like. You get the people and I'll be there. Let me know what Orton wants for the amount of cars you can get and I'll get you a price ... we've already talked about that a little.

hey touringbubble, how far are you from atlanta, ga? I dont really mind the drive if you are familiar with the tephra patch. Also do i need a wideband? I know when bigric street tuned my car he used narrow band. I want this tune to be dead on with a/f. I need to get the gm boost solenoid as well.
i'm not all that worried about the meth damaging my engine as long as i have a really good tune. I'll also be able to switch between maps so i wont always have to be on the meth.

I'm about 2 hours from the west side of the perimeter ... just east of Birmingham on Hwy. 280.
I have a Innovate LM-1 Wideband that I use for street tuning. as for the map switch, I do use it myself. I have never used the failsafe versions of the switch though ... the ones that automatically switch maps based on the meth failsafe. They both work the same in the ROM though so it's no big deal.

Sounds good. I do also tune ECU based boost control. =)

If your going to go meth I'd recommend the Aquamist HFS-1 or HFS-5 or the Labonte meth kit. Both use fairly good failsafes.

I just had a tuner here in Clarksville suggest meth for a power upgrade. I'm not really interested in getting a power adder that I have to continually fill up. LOL. As far as touring bubble doing a mass tune I might be interested in it; depending upon the price.
