mitsubishi told me every 30,000 miles is the recommened service time for tranfer case, dif's, and trans. does that sound about right?

your manual should have a schedule for every maintenance your car needs, there is two schedules: a schedule if you drive it hard... and one if you drive it like a regular sane person, but none of us evo owners do that. lol

l true, I had mine done real early, at like 20K, Andrew at Dyno4mance said if you drive it fairly hard he recommends doing it every 20K-25K regardless of what the manual says. Better safe then sorry...

i think mitsubishi charges the same if not $275. I think im gunna do mine. Tripp said it only took him like 30 minutes to do all of it. It would be nice to see what condition the fluid is in at 20k or 25k in person. Lancer Shop sells the proper lubricant. I just need manual pump to get it in the gear box.

Aite... Heres the break down from someone whos done it . The rear diff and tcase takes the mitsu dia queen that they sell on lancershop. Its a big can that will do the tcase and rear diff about 5 times each. Both only use .5 qts. The rear diff fluid on mine was just at the point where it needed to be changed at 35k. Also like you said the tcase and tranny should be done at 30k, but if you drive it hard (like most of us do) than do it at 15k. Also when i did mine the tcase was WAY past due at 35k. It was like water when its supposed to be very thick. Also at 35k the tranny fluid was just at the point where it needed to be done. I used BG synchroshift I for the tranny (3 Qts) and its great, but im gonna go to BG synchroshift II or Redline for better protection next time. If nothing else... Tcase at 15k. Tranny and rear diff every 30k. Ed and Dylan... Ya'll have the ACD, so i believe your tcases use a special fluid that i believe you can only get from mitsu. Check mitsubishiparts.com before the dealership though.

All you need to do it is a jack... 4 jack stands or a lift (need to have the car level to drain everything out) and a hand pump that you can buy from autozone or advanced. Just drain em like you would your oil and pump the new fluids in. I did mine at Fahim (guy with the bimmer) old shop, so i had a lift.

Also stay clean... Gear oil smells like SHIT and it sticks with ya...

lol yeah when i worked at jiffy lube, that GL5 gear box fluid smelt like ass. Thanks for the break down tripp. I'm all about keeping up with service work since i've had the evo. i serviced my rear diff. for the first time since i had the car and when i pulled the drain plug a spring came out with the fluid(which was black and water like). it was to funny.

and by the way, someone way want to move some of these post about service work to the General forum. Service periods or something

i'd help u out if i didn't have to drive an hour, lol sorry Ed

on the tc and doughnuts, if it's raining or wet pavement then its not as bad due to the tires being able to spin on the wet surface or like on grass, the tc and diffs are under less stress when there able to spin more freely
when done on dry pavement is when its bad on the tc,
just like at an drag strip its actually good for our tires to chirp alittle to take out some of the stress on the drivetrain

i got a three car garage. that should be enough room for two evo's goin at the same time. pretty decent lighting too. i have a really bad jackstand. when you lower the car it drops really fast and hits the jack. learned that on the 240. lol
