Well i had to have my clutch replaced last week, I got a ACT MB7-HDSS. Picked the car up last Tuesday eveing. Car was doing fine. Well went to the mountains to do some rafting with some of my friends and then do some twisties on Friday. I got up there came to a stop sign took off and got alot of wheel hop and got it every time i had to stop. Get back down here sunday and take it back to the shop on Monday. All the motor and transmission mounts are fine so now we think its a spring on the clutch disc. I only got 300 miles on this clutch so hopefully ACT will cover it and the labor. But should find out whats wrong for sure today.
Sorry I haven't been on lately but working 55 hour weeks and then i have softball and basketball games also.
Let me be clear i never made it to the twisties before my clutch starting acting up.
Oh and whats up Joey and Matt. Welcome to the boards.

Its probably because you didnt give the clutch a proper breakin. Your not supposed to go out and beat on it right away. I believe your supposed to be easy on it for the first 800-1000 miles or so. Your problems may be due to not breaking it in. Ric may be able to help a bit more than I can.
Also, I doubt ACT is going to cover labor, if your lucky they might send you another clutch.

Negative, the break in procedure that came with the clutch said 100-200 miles for proper break in period. And I already had around 280 miles on the clutch before i even got on it, Plus i only did about 5 curves then that was the end of the road, because it was on the way to rafting.

a proper breakin is longer than 200 regardless of what the breakin procedure may state.

Well this may be true but probabley shouldn't be printed in the manual. And since it's printed they best be covering it.
But your probabley right i'll end up forking out another 1,000 dollars. lol

man i hope that doesn't happen to me... i don't really like this clutch if i had more money at the time i would have gone with a different one... it just feels iffy to me.. i have about 500 miles on it... i haven't launched it yet but did some pulls on the highway which doesn't really ( but i could be wrong) hurt the clutch because your break in is suppose to be at least 500 stop and go miles

I agree with you 100$ on that. For your sake I really hope you dont have to fork out any extra money. Who did the install?

Thats odd, I had the ACT before my crazy build and I actually really liked it. I could launch that thing like nobodys business. There are definitely better clutches out there on the market, but for the price I think its pretty good, significantly better than OEM imo.

Its a shop here in Newnan, they'd done work on the Evo before and I like them. Not a Evo shop but then have built race cars and work on my brothers built Prelude.

I would give them a call and see if they can do anything for you. Worse comes to worse give me a call here at the shop and I'll see if I can do anything for you, but it would be best to use your current shop and see if they will fix it for free/ get you a new clutch if needed.

That sucks Alan. I hope they cover the clutch. Sometimes there are lemons in the bunch. However, most companies tend to think that it isn't the product's fault when something goes wrong.

I loved my ACT, never had any issues.
I did a 1000mile break-in on it though - everyone recommended it.

ACT really dont need to be broken in...
but to be safe i broke mine in for 100 miles.
the amount of torqur the thing can handle compared to what my car is making wasnt enough to get the full effect out of the clutch so no breakin needed. even if you beat it for a while it still only gets 3/4 of the full capacity anyways.
if you are making big power then yes your clutch needs to be broken in properly but other than that. no need.
you clutch is chattering prolly cuz either the clutch line isnt bled properly. or oily, dirty flywheel/clutch surface.
id get it checked out.
my stock one did that when it was cold out. the car would shake rigourously but then you disengage the clutch and put it back it would stop.

Yeah but its more then chattering its alot of wheel hop also with a alot of mechanical noises and vibrations going on. So we shall see.

Well got the clutch out last Monday, and ended up being the rivets that hold the disc and springs and all that together. The mechanic said it's definatly a manufactor defect and it looks that way to me. But we'll see if ACT feels the same about it either today or tomorrow.
I sure hope they do, I included a bill for the labor also, lol. I miss my baby, I love the luxury of the Audi but when i put my right foot down i like to go fast.
It's not like the Audi thats slow on paper it does 0-60 in 5.9s. and almost out ran my brothers built prelude. Poor boy, lol no torque whatsoever in the honda but he did make 196whp and 155wtq.

Well hell your Audi has the same engine in the S4's. It's just detuned a bit if I remember correctly.
