Ok, so I finally installed my IX bov today. I was tuned earlier this year at Dyno4mance with my old plastic one. I can immediately tell several differences. Most are expected, but some suprised me. The bov is a little more audible than before of course, and I am holding boost a little better(less taper). However, I am backfiring a little bit now. I am wondering if the bov has anything to do with it. I didn't backfire with the old bov after I was tuned by Andrew. Any ideas?

When are you backfiring? What part of the RPM range? It could be that by the boost not tapering anymore that your running a bit leaner at the higher RPM ranges (since you weren't tuned for a higher boost/load at that RPM).

That is probably what is happening. It doesn't even do it all that often. After I get a mbc, I will probably need another tune. I might just wait until I get cams.

cams will for sure get the most out of the added boost with a tune........

I did some more pulls, and I think Tripp is right on the money. It is only backfiring when under full boost at higher RPMs around 6-7k...

There ya go buddy! Just try changing out the spark plugs for now and see how that works. Its a cheap 8 dollar fix, so if it doesn't work you won't be out much. I always change my plugs after I do something to my car just to make sure something like this doesn't happen and scare the crap out of me and make me think something is wrong with my car lol.

I just recently installed NGK iridiums in January before the tune. What plugs do you run Tripp?

I run NGK BPR7ES (coppers) and I actually change them every oil change. Mine at least warrant the change everytime too.

Wow that fast? The copper ones must not last long. How long do the iridiums last?

depends on how much you drive......mine go around 4-6 months but that was pushing it once before....lol

Yea. I don't know how long it takes you oil change to oil change, but I go about 3-4 months before I hit 3k miles, so I change mine every 3-4 months as well.

That's about how long it takes between oil changes for me too, but it just seems short.

lol Thats why I just use copper. 12 bucks every oil change vs. 30+.

I haven't changed mine yet and I have 27k on the odometer. It seems a little excessive to change your plugs every oil change.

Well the factory Iridium's normally last over 30k, but they are a very high quality and if you order them from mitsu. they cost a good bit (close to 15-20 bucks a plug). Considering I can buy 4 for less than the price of 1 iridium, I think it's a fairly good deal. Its also cheap insurance.
