I'm currently working with Chris from Mellon tuning to get my bolt-ons (TBE, MBC, Intake, LICP) Evo up to speed. I was just going to make a quick review for anyone considering using him.
For those unfamiliar with the whole deal, it's a email based ECU tuning company. [You will need a laptop and a Tactrix cable btw for logging.] You paypal your payment, email list of mods, and make some base log runs in 3rd gear. Well I send them all my "stuff" late Friday afternoon. I was hoping to get some sort of map to run 23PSI in a few days or even a week. Chris emailed me back with a base map for high boost THAT NIGHT! I didn't check my email until about 1:30AM. I send him a quick thank you and he replied within 2 minutes. Wow. Now that's customer service.
Now we are going to keep logging and modifying the ROM to get it exactly where we need for minimum knock and most power gains. We're on the third or so ROM and he said it'd take a few weeks to finish everything up. As of right now, I'm VERY IMPRESSED with his work. Car runs like a champ, and we already got the knock sum from 3 counts (when I was untuned) to 1 or less.
Chris explains every modification he does to your ECU and talks you through it. I'm already learning a little bit about tuning: raising boost cut, rev limiters, etc using ECUflash. For anyone considering an inexpensive tune for their Evo with stock ECU, please, please, please give this guy a shout! :)
