I found this on another board and thought it was great! Makes me wish I had a motorcycle...
"......so, I gave her a twist to 11,500 and almost vomitted into my helmet.
..friggin bike is so fast that i generally short shift, so the other day i spaced out and let the tach go and the front wheel lifted and 2 city blocks evaporated into the space time continuum "

Hey Jon, what kind of mods do you have?
Evolvedgti
04-11-2008, 09:15 PM
ETS 3.5 " IC w/ pipes
Forge RS DV( still havent tuned yet)
AEM SRI
SMC Alky injected
Buschur TBE w/ bullet muffler
Dynoflash tune
Walboro
Forge unos BC
Megan track coilovers
under hood and shifter base bushing
New clutch(just now that will keep me from feeling the power for a while)
I think that is about it.
Oh and I just got a labonte failsafe, and new line, yeah for me.
Althought it aint the prettiest, I try to pick stuff for a reason. and honestly very soon i want to get my few scratches fixed.
P.S my car is still tuned for UTah elevation, with 91 oct. it needs a tune real bad. I have been trying to to get to Dynoformance for like four months, and things keep coming up.

I agree-a tune is a must!! You will pick up several more hp. How do you like your shifter bushings? Btw, what is a labonte failsafe?

I like the bushings, my under hood are buschurs, and the base bushings are kart boy( they both took out some of the notchiness.)
The Labonte failsafe is , well Labonte is the brand(evom vendor) It is a failsafe that is compatible with many alky/meth kits. What it does is cut boost to wastegate pressure in case of a malfunction. It is insurance so to speak, so that hopefully you don't blow your engine in the event of failure.
Blew: Did you have a failsafe when your meth blew?

I wouldn't trust Dyno4mance for a tune... They screwed me over. They tuned my car for 91 when I was moving out here to Reno and I told them I would be at 4000'. They didn't compensate for that and the car ran like crap. I e-mailed them and sent them some logs and they helped out for a bit, but than they just stopped replying to my e-mails and stopped answering my phone calls. The cars running "ok" but could be much better.

Who would you suggest. I am thinking while I am in TN, going to Mellon(its like a three hours drive from nashville though). We just had a few more tornadoes today, so I may be here longer, already been here for 2 & 1/2 months

ewww... Tornadoes suck!!! Mellon would be a good bet though. His road tunes and even e-tunes are amazing. If I'm not happy with the tune from this local shop here once my stuff is installed I'll be going to Mellon.
If you want an actual dyno tune you can go to Shariff at Forged, but I'm not sure what he knows about ECUflash. If he can tune an AEM or an HKS EMS than I'm sure he could do ECUflash. Its just unfortunate that Atlanta was blessed with a bunch of good tuners when the Evos were 1st released, but it seems they let that get to their heads and are now dicks (Dyno4mance and TopSpeed). TopSpeed has seemed to get their acts together as of lately.

Hey guys, sorry, been out on the town all nite. To answer a few of the previous questions above, Jon, No I did not have a failsafe when my motor blew. Even with that said, my car did not overboost, and it was not a case of the meth kit failing, it was detonation due to a hickup in the tune. We checked the meth kit and everything is still 100% and I have no reason to believe it failed, although it is still a possibility.
You guys know my car is at Forged now and I trust them 100% with my build, but Sharif will tell you himself that he has not had the time to learn all of the limits and details of ECUflash. He is a great Fcon tuner, and a great tuner with all of the applications that he tunes. I would give him a few months before having him tune your ECUflash. With that said, I think Andrew @ Dyno4mance would do just fine, ask Brett how his most recent tune is treating him, he is tuned by Andrew with ECUflash. Also, you really cant go wrong with Chris @ Mellon. Mellon tunes have a very good reputation and I have yet to hear of an unsatisfied customer.
So in a nutshell, go with either Dyno4mance or Mellon. If it was me.... Mellon. My .02

Whats the difference between the JDM MIVEC map and the US? I know the IX's had anti-lag from the factory in Japan. Is that what your talking about?

Honestly, i am not sure. An old friend put it in for me. I do know that the parameters are different. He showed me the current at the time and then the jdm map and the parameters were different. I did that because when i got tuned, noone had messed the the mivec map. The guy that put it in for me said that he gained around 15hp just from the map. check your pm, tripp.

I'm happy with my Dyno4mance tune. It has performed solidly since I got it. I am hopefully going to get a mbc and IX bov soon. I will look into other tuners at that point. I hear great things out of Mellon Tuning. Chris seems to really know his stuff.
