I've finally got the money to re-clear my spoiler, but the shop wants around 250 bucks to do it. I think its highway robbery. I'm sure the majority of work is the prep. I just need a few Q's answered though. ALan you did yours yourself minus spraying the actual clear coat right? If i'm just needing the actual carbon part re cleared do I need to sand and prep the whole wing? Also how should I go about doing this? I know I need to start with a fairly rough sand paper (1000 grit) and move to 1500 and maybe down to 2500? Then what? Just have them spray it? Let me know what you guys think.

$250 is too high IMHO. You should do the prep and take it to be cleared.

$250 is way too much, you can almost buy a used Evo wing in perfect condition for that. In any case I think you can find a way to do it much cheaper.

I actually used airplane paint stripper first, you can find it at Advanced, You would have to be careful when appling it since your doing just the center part and only on a clear coat it wouldn't have to sit long, Then i actually used like a 80 grit paper because using 1000 would take forever and it already took forever with the 80 grit. lol, But just sand and every now and then stop and look at the paper if its got black on it then stop sanding that area casue your at the carbon. You wouldn't have to do the colored part they can just tape it off or recoat it. Doing the edges were the fin and vertical piece met was the hardest, should have used a dremmel there.lol I would only do the top and bottom parts and not worry about the sides it will look fine once out of the shop.

But going all carbon would look hot to me on a silver Evo, seen pics and love it.

Your just trying to make me do more work... lol How long does the airplane stripper take to work? I'm guessing you used that to remove the clear coat? What exactly was it used for?
