Sound Systems

Ive got a quick question for those of you with sound systems in your Evo. Im looking to do a small sound system, but a local shop told me id have to have a nice sized amp in order to get the sound into the cab due to a steal plate behind the rear seat. Just wondering if this is true or not? I just want a small system and something that i can take out for events and whatnot.

I have two amps at my parents house, 1 is 300 watt other is 800. I am not using them and will sell them to you for a descent price if you are interested in either. The 300 may need a new fuse, no biggie. I think I also have the cables you will need. Let me know if you want to take a look at it. As for your question, I do not know if it is true or not, I have never heard that before with any car.

mine has the SSL package. it came with a 300watt sound system. for me, not a big rap listener, that is good enough...

Yea. Im not a huge rap listener, but i do like techno every now and then, but mainly rock, screamo, etc. whatever they call it these days :lol:. I may just see if anyone has their Infinity sub for sale on EvoM or something. Ryan. I may take one of those amps off your hands too. Ill let you know and thanks for the inputs so far.

Suprisingly it was a guy at sound sensations. I bought my old system from them and it hit hard as hell, but I dont think this guy in particular knew what he was talking about.

If you want some really high end sound for your front sound stage, I have some focal 165k polykevlar 6.5 components for sale. They sound amazing!

Tripp, at the next meet, you can listen to my system.

I have a single 12" JL Audio W3v2 in the trunk and it's being pushed by an Alpine 350W amp. You can easily get this for under $400. It sounds outstanding plus it's not too heavy. The box + amp combined is like 20 lbs added to the trunk.

yeah i had a system in my evo 8 and inside was loud as hell . basiclly you would be able to turn it up real loud but outside you cuold hardly hear it. i only had a 800W amp and 2 10's so, but ive been told that too but idk.

I miss having a stereo like I've had in all my previous cars. I'll always be an audiophile. However, I am torn between whether I want to add such weight to a "performance car". I have been seriously considering putting something in that could be easily taken out if I want to go faster.

Well on Evo's you can do few things. You can have subs in the trunk, which 10" with decent amp will do work. (there is no metal wall by the way, is just styro foam).
Or you can do one 4ch amp like for example Alpine PDX 4.150 and have just speakers but rear ones will play just low mid bass (I will recommend Add on woofer set from MBQuart as rear, they will come with one big crossover and some good front component set like MBQuart Q series 6.5") that's probably what I am going to do on my car. I had everything ready for mind blowing system in my car with all fiberglass and all kind of miracles like hanging amp rack etc. but I've done so many cars for other people but in my own Evo I rather have something nice and small with no subs just for listening pleasure. Small amp under driver seat like Alpine and just speakers. Believe me with right configuration it will sound phenomenal. Much better than factory SSL with 10" sub which I had before on my previous Evo.
