I might be bringing my Evo down from Tennessee to Atlanta and was wondering where there is a good speed shop in the Atlanta area? Thanks.

You will hear various things, but overall Dyno4mance and Forged Performance seem to be very good. I had my car tuned at Dyno4mance, and Andrew did a great job.

Yes, those are the only 2 shops to take your car to around this area. What all will you be having done?

I'm just curious...aren't there any decent shops in Tennessee? I know the Atlanta shops are good, but that is a pretty long drive.

I might be turning in my rental car and drive my Evo while I am stationed in Atlanta and was just wondering where to take my car in case I need something done to it. I normally do all repairs and maintenance myself but since I won't have all my tools with me I can't turn as many wrenches I normally would.

What about 4GPerformance? Are they any good?

Topspeed.....

Both Topspeed and Dyno4mance have somewhat lacked in their customer service lately. I don't know too much about 4gperformance. Forged Performance seems to be the best shop around lately.

Sounds good. Hopefully nothing will happen that will require their attention but it's always good to have someone identified just in case. I will definitely be bringing my Evo down this upcoming weekend so the next meet I will have my car there.

Not sure on the evo side of things, but for Subaru TopSpeed is our resident shop.

TopSpeed has probably one of the worst reputations in the southeast in the Evo community. Their customer service is below par and their tunes suck for Evo's. I really hope they are better with Subbies. There are many shops I would take my car before I ever return to TopSpeed.

I e-mailed Forged Performance since I saw on their website that they have the LC-1 for the best price that I've seen around and asked them how much it would cost to have them install. They told me $200 and to call them up to make sure they have one available before I drive over there. I'm trying to set up an appointment for this weekend for them to install it since I don't have my tools here. I also ordered a dual gauge steering column from evomoto. It should be here on Friday. I can't wait.

I got an appointment for 10am Saturday to have the LC-1 installed. According to UPS I should have my double column gauge pod holder on Friday so I should be good to go. Stupid me though forgot my tactrix cable at home in Tennessee. I'll probably just have my wife mail it to me.

Well I had the Innovate LC-1 installed Saturday by Forged Performance. Dylan worked on my car which I approved of because he is a fellow Evo owner. Their work was excellent. I saw your car, Ryan. I like the wheels on it. They had their shop Evo next to it. Their's is also without an engine so it also has the nose up in the air look. Apparently they had Rob Fuller (Robispec) there on Friday night working on a 350s suspension. The only problems I had was they forgot to give me the CD that comes with the system and they didn't show me where the serial port is located to plug into my laptop. I'm going there this afternoon to pick it up though so it's all good. I will definitely go to them if I need any work done.

I'm glad that Dylan took care of you. If you liked Ryan's wheels, wait til you get a look at whats going under the hood! Also, I posted a similar thread in the suspension section about Rob coming to Atl.

Topspeed wants $720 to do the clutch on my IX lol. Anyone have good experiences with a more reasonably priced shop for clutch install?

Does that include the clutch? I haven't heard of people paying more than 1k w/ clutch (ACT HDSS) out of topspeed. I think they are trying to rip you off. You can try Forged. I don't know how much they charge. Ryan should be able to tell you.

If I buy the clutch from them they want $525 for the ACT HDSS and 640 for the install

Are you talking about Forged or Topspeed? Just a little point, a clutch install is usually a 6-8 hour job on our cars. I may be able to talk to Sharif and get the install for $600 for you, but I dont know many shops that can do it for less than that, and ya, the cost of the clutch is never cheap. If you want to feel better about your situation just imagine Im paying $2300 just for my clutch, this doesnt include install either...

Get back to me on whether or not you want Forged to do it for you, as said before I can ask Sharif if he can do it for $600, but I honestly think $640 is not a bad quote.

I ended up letting Batlground do mine, for 570.00, i've heard bad things from people about them but they did fine on the clutch and tuned my brothers Prelude which is also doing fine.

I believe they opinions are based on the Evo's they do, or at least thats what Ive heard. I think they are supposed to be a fairly credible shop, and most shops can do a clutch without messing it up ;) I personally dont know much about them though. Alan, are you coming for sure to the meet?

I got 50k on the nose out of mine with basically the same mods as you Brett.

Also I think I paid around 1100 or so for my clutch and install, but they also had to do my oil pan gasket and fix a oil line on the turbo along with a boost leak, so I think that bill in total came to around 1450. That was from a local shop.

No worries about asking Forged. All the numbers I quoted were from Topspeed. I am gonna give Dyno4mance a call tomorrow.
I can get the Act clutch + streetlight flywheel for 739 online :). I asked if Topspeed would price match or come close and they took 4 dollas off the clutch and was told the streetlight flywheel is backordered. They wanted 529 for clutch and 329 for flywheel

Isn't the stock flywheel sufficient for mild power applications?

BlewByYouEvoVIII
03-22-2008, 01:20 AM
eww..., well Ive never been a big fan of TopSpeed but I remember Dyno4mance being more expensive than TopSpeed. You also have to take in account that your going to spend a tank of gas getting up there and back. Ill ask Sharif tomorow what he charges for clutch install. Ill let you know. BTW were you coming to the meet tomorow?
