well the time has come to start building the shop car....we are going with a built 2.0...we havnt picked an exact piston rod combo but we are leaning towards the groden aluminum rods with ross pistons!!! we will be swaping out cams and will be using revolvers...upgrading the head with a custom RPM ported head!! with a beefier valve train and bigger valves. we will continue to run the 35r and might change manifolds...the 35r will deff be maxxed out with this setup....we are also upgrading to a 4 puck clutch!! here are pics from the cam removale we did on the shop car b/c somebody purchased them!! funding of or new build!! we will keep you updated as the days go by!!

Unfortunately for the time being the FP Green 20G-LT, but my final plans call for the AMS 37R. I just cant afford everything all at once.

Thats what I was thinking. I'm really curious as to what the spool will be with the 2.3 stroker.

Mike, I really need to drive up and check out the shop. It looks like you are building things right! What kind of numbers are you expecting out of the build?
Ryan, I have to agree-with that setup turbo lag will be a thing of the past. It's gonna be crazy when you finally get the 37R though.

rods and pistons have been ordered along with the valve train....we ended up using manley I-beam turbo tough rods mated with wiesco pistons!! 2.0 standard bore.. then we also ordered supertech dual springs retainers and standard size valves
Ever work out those seats Mike? :)

lol ya, ill accidently hit the throtle and be spooled up, lol. The 37R will work fine with the 2.3RR motor, this motor gets 1200 rpms or so more of rev range than their standard 2.3 motor. According to AMS, I should have close to 4.5-5K in full boost with the 37R on this motor.

haha, as I told you before, I dont consider TopSpeed a good shop, just the way they treat people and conduct tehmselves. I would take your car to 1. Forged or 2. Dyno4mance. They are both top notch shops, Dyno4mance is where I had my most recent issue though, you can read all about it on some of the threads on here. Im leaving today to go out of town until next saturday, but anytime after that, I would be more than happy to meetup with you and take you over to Forged to meet the guys. One of their mechanics is a member on these boards too.

Forged Performance looks like they specialize in 350z and such, are they familiar with installations/tuning for the Evo??

Forged can most definitely handle tuning Evos. One of their installers, Dylan, owns an Evo and frequents this forum. Just ask Ryan in a month if they can tune Evos. I'm sure he will be more than happy to show you.

The way I look at it is an engine is an engine and any internal combustion engine (exception of diesels, but thats not that different) works the same. So any shop should be able to work on any engine. Its just a matter of if the shop is willing to learn the little quirks that are involved in each specific engine and do the job right. Forged is one of the few shops (in my experience) that is willing to do this. Yes they specialize in 350z/G35, but they know engines in and out and will do any job right to make the customer happy and not skimp on anything.

Yes, they are familiar with the Evo. As Brett pointed out, their main mechanic owns an Evo and knows what he is doing. I am currently doing a $35K build and am using them to do all of my installation, break in, tuning, etc. Feel free to wait and see how my car does, but I wouldnt trust a shop with a $35K build if I wasnt confident they would do superior work.

35k? jeez your car already looks SICK, now it's going to be an absolute monster!
but Tripp, the extra "little quirks" are very important, you can't leave that out! That's good to know the head mechanic drives an Evo...what's his name? I'll be sure to ask for him once I get some time to swing by...

Rich, check this out ;) http://evoatlanta.com/forums/showthread.php?t=391
The mechanics name is Dylan and him and Sharif (the owner of Forged Performance) will both be at the meet on Saturday. Feel free to ask them all the questions you have as I am sure they will be more than happy to answer them.
