I wanted to thank the guys at TopSpeed, specifically Cicio, Doug and Josh.
At the recent TopSpeed Cookout / Dyno day, Cicio pointed out that my car had a major timing issue beyond 6500RPM. Some people in attendance might have actually seen or noticed it on the dyno display - I was the one whose lines just looked like they fell off a cliff while approaching max RPM. To be more specific, my reading looked like some sort of seismic activity near California. Anyways, after speaking with a few members from EvoAtlanta, I decided it would be best to have TopSpeed work their magic on my Evo.
I got in contact with Cicio and Josh - they got me set up for some tuning at a date and time that was convenient for my schedule. My tuning day soon arrived and I promptly met with Doug. The first thing I explained to Doug was that while I wanted maximum power, my first priority was for the power to be as safe as possible. The guys strapped my car to the dyno and Doug went to work. All along the way Doug was explaining to me what he was doing and how certain aspects of the tune would benefit me and more importantly the car. I really appreciate the time that was taken on my rather simple setup. Now my car is still relatively close to stock - I've got an intake, intercooler, turbo-back exhaust and an access port. Having said that, Doug was able to get me to 340whp and 325wtq. The initial reading at the cookout / dyno day was 320whp. I picked up an additional 20whp and my engine no longer wants to go DIAF.
I've actually already put on about 2,000+ miles since my tune and have easily gone through 8+ tanks of gas, I really couldn't be happier with everything so far. I now have more power, a quicker spool and am actually getting better gas mileage (as long as I'm cruising) than I was before - It's the best of both worlds.
I also wanted to thank Josh for helping me out with a quote and some much needed Evo info - Josh is very knowledgeable and has no issue at all with getting back with me in a reasonable timeframe. Things are so much easier when the info / quote I'm requesting gets back to me within the same business day or even the same week for that matter. Anyways, thanks for everything guys.. I look forward to the next time that my car is at TopSpeed - Hopefully my FP Red happens sooner rather than later.
Thanks again,
Nickolas
