if your going 2.3... your going to need a 4g63 block ;), and 100mm 4g64 crank... not a oem 2.0... piston size is going to depend on if your going to need to bore out the block.. and how far... .20,.40 etc... most likely .20... rod length is 150mm... which is stock rod length.... you can piece together a good combo for prob cheaper... but as of right now i've been reading on it... you'll prob only save 100-200 with not going with a kit.. unless u get all used parts...also depends on hp range... i beam rods, vs h beam rods..

Everything that he said. I found that it was much cheaper to piece a kit together myself. Most of those 1700/1800 kits come with H-Beam rods and lesser pistons. There isn't a huge difference in cost between H and I beams so you may as well get I-beams. Its always better to "over-build" your motor because you hp wants/needs may increase. Also you dont want to build a motor then have to walk on eggshells when driving it.

^^^ This.

Take a look at maperformances page or buschurracing and see what components they use. Also if you are using a local machine shop then alot of times its just easier for them to order what you need.

I was looking at a manley kit where I can put in what crank, rods, pistons, I want, which was the 100mm crank, 150 TT rods and forge piston, complete with rings and bearrings for about $2000, does that sound like a pretty good deal

Im guessing that a 85mm is the stock size piston and a 85.5mm would be the .20 over right

I beams aren't really needed if ur not pushing over 700... English racing is running all h beams and running 700 on a DDs ... but the difference is 300 dollars... I wouldn't skimp out on what takes the most beating in ur car... I'm going I beams ... there is a kit on maps website build your own 2.3 .. for just under 2k... comes with bearings ... i beam manley tt rods which r strong as hell.. and Manley pistons ...

Make sure you do the balance shaft elimination when you reassemble your motor. You can keep your block and crank and do a long rod 2.0 too.

Why dont u just do a full 2.4(not stroker). Cheaper build and it will make a good street motor depending on your turbo setup.. Im more of a dsm guy but i like the 2.4 over any other build for a street setup.. Shawn makes over 700hp on his 2.4 dsm,I have a friend named Steven with fwd 2g daily driver that make 550hp on the 2.4 (9:1) with 6262bb, I have a 2.4 10:1 with bw s366et .91ar t4 in my awd 2g. I hope to put down 600-700hp. Im more worried about my 1/4 time than being a dyno queen tho.. Galant block ftw.. Thats jus my .02!

Doesn't Kevin have his old engine for sale? I believe he does, that thing is ridiculous from how he explained to me....also, I think MonsterEvol23 has an extra kit laying around in his garage, not sure though....

I was thinking of doing a 4g64 block but I would have to find one and still rebuild it so I figured I could just mine for cheaper

What about the crank, my choices on that is a forge or billet but the bullet is almost $700 more, would the forge hold 700hp

Look at lilev23's for sale thread. You can scoop his 2.4 kit and buy an oem crank.
