Looking to start off making the suspension beefer before throwing some power into the car. What setup is recommended? I know I'm probably going to buy Coilover + Sway bars + strut brace? Any other suggestions?
Thanks,

When you do all that get a roll center kit too. It helps out a lot on the X when lowering it. All of those are good choices, I wouldn't worry about the strut braces so much. The X is already a pretty rigid car.

Awesome, so I'm going to go with the Tein Type Flex, any problems with those? Now to find the sway bar. And the Roll center kit.
Thanks,

Tein's are good, I run Fortune Auto's on my car. For sway bars and roll center kit, go with Whiteline. They are quality parts and I have them all on my car. They are great and easy to use.

I agree with Lucas, Whiteline is the way to go. get end links as well.
I don't recommend Tein, Id go with a set of Fortune, or BC.
or JRZ if your baller enough. lol

LOL, Fortune 500, 510 or 2way? JRZ, if I didn't want to upgrade anything else on my 10K budget then I would go for JRZ. Can't spend all my Iraq earned money on just coil overs LOL!
Thanks,

If you want to go for a quality coilover for the money get some KW V3's. They are great, I wish I would have saved a little more and got them. I do love the Fortune 500 though. Any of the mentioned ones will be good.

I'm running a HKS hipermax III sports for 2 years now and I am so happy with the performance and the drop. Try it!

Nothing wrong with Tein Flex's. Thats what I have. I had BC Racing Inverted's before.
All the HKS, Apex, Tein, Megan, BC, Tanabe, Fortune Auto's are about the same in terms of quality, fit, finish, build and adjustability.
The next step above those are KW's, BilSteins, Ohlin's, Cusco, Zeal's.
The next step above that is Moton, JRZ.
If you aren't planning to the track the car all the time stick with the first tier. Especially if you are just looking ot improve the looks and get some performance at the same time.
The 2nd tier is for semi serious track/gymkhana/auto-x enthusiasts who do 50/50 street/racing environment.
The 3rd tier is hardcore.
This is of course my opinion based off of what I have researched.
If you go on evom they will tell you if you aren't getting KW's in the very least you're wasting your money. I don't necessarily subscribe to that.
I will say the off the shelf spring rates are wrong for almost all of the 1st tier coilovers. They usually sell them 8k front 6k rear. Basically the springs are stiffer in the front then in the rear. For Evo's (At least EVO VIII/IX) its reversed. You want to have the fronts softer then the rear.
I swapped the springs on my Tein flex's instead of ordering all new springs. My BC's were 1ok front 12k rear. My Flex's are also 10k front 12k rear (Now that I've swapped them).
