Does anyone have XM radio in their Evo? I recently purchased on OnyX system for my 2003. I haven't tried it in the Evo yet, but I tried it in another car. The sound quality is terrible w/lots of static. I have to tune to an FM radio station that is not being used, and then tune the XM console to that same station. I think the best option would be to go with the vehicle install kit directly hooked up to the radio. I'm curious to hear any other XM stories out there. Thx!

What year Evo do you have? How is your audio connected? Is it:

1) Aux In Cable directly to your stereo?
2) Cassette Adapter
3) PowerConnect plays through your FM radio
4) FM Direct Adapter?

My Evo is an 03, so I don't have an auxiliary input connection to my radio. I'm sure the X's already have that, as probably all newer cars have.

^ you could...
1. get a aftermarket radio with aux... they are fairly cheap now.. 50 or so.. installed like $100 at frys...
2.they have a hardwire were they tap into your factory raido hook up a aux... and pull out rcas.. in your glove box..etc... and you can use a rca to 3.5mm to hook up to your sat radio...

i don't think the evo's came with a tape player did they?if so thats a pretty good cheap way of doing it.. use to work at frys did these installs :)
any fm mod you use is going to suck... best way is to get another radio... and have it hardwired in... even the 2nd option pretty much sucks... at times... its basically a hard wired fm mod.. so you'll still get static ...

I got a pretty nice sound system set-up in my car. My Evo is '06. I just took my car to an Audio car shop in peachtree industrial blvd. They did the set-up for me.

Would anyone recommend for or against getting the install done at Best Buy audio?

I had Best Buy install the FM Direct Adapter in the Evo, and had it mounted under the environmental controls in that slot that I never use. It looks good and sound quality is excellent! I'm happy with the install. Had it done at the Cumming store, exit 14. Adam and Mark do the installs, both seem highly qualified.

You lived in Cumming? What color Evo you own?

Jamsky, I have an Apex Silver Evo w/blue vinyl decals down the sides from front to back. With the decals, it's very easy to find my car in a crowded parking lot. Of course the cops like to pull it over as well. :( What color is yours? I'm sure I may have seen it. I've seen an Evo parked in the parking lot near Bed Bath and Beyond on exit 14, or somewhere near there, it's been over a year. I think someone on this forum works near there. We should all get together sometime..i think there are a bunch of Evo people in Cumming.
