I believe OEM injector size is a 560cc. I upgraded to Injector Dynamics 1000cc's and upgraded the twin pump. I want to see what the power gains are with E85 and compare it to the consumption rate compared to 93 oct before I decide if it's worth it to run all the time or only at the track or weekends.

Here's a question Ryan: Say you are driving around and are down to 1/2 tank of E85 but there are no stations around. What happens if you mix 93 and E85?? What map would you use?? Unless you are like Hurrel and live right next to a station I don't see the point in running it everyday. H was saying it was only like $1 cheaper a gallon but fuel range drops by 1/3 to 1/2? At least that's what I have read on the evo. Da R35 may be different.

PS- Why did Nissan drop the Skyline name?

we have one that station that I know of maybe to that sell E85, and it takes me 40 mins to get to the one I know of, so I think Ill stay with the 93

On the evo you can either flash a new map over if you have a laptop.... to run 93 once ur almost out of e85... or they sell a e-85 switch which u can flip a switch and run 93 on... but u wanna get as close as to empty as possible before switch to either or... i dont think there is a point in DDing e-85... cost wise they are pretty much the same thing unless u run e85 for a whole year then e85 might be a little cheaper...

e-85 uses 20% more fuel...

Can't speak on GodZilla but I know in my experience with my Evo its about 30% more consumption. Compartively it costs about the same in a week to run E as opposed to pump.......benefit is of course having more power on tap anytime and supporting a US homegrown industry (Believe it or not that does matter to me).

If you have no E85 available then just drive it out as comfortable as you're able and then fill up with 93.....as long as you don't go to the drag strip you'll be fine. I took a trip to FL in the Evo and started off witha full tank of E and drove until the yellow light. Filled up on pump....hit the switch and kept it moving....no problems.

In theory you could treat E85 like race gas and only run it when you are going to be doing performance based driving (drag strip, track, auto-x).

In practice when you start running it and feel how beastly the car is on E and realize you are essentially spending the same amount any. I GUARENTEE YOU WILL NOT GO BACK TO PUMP IF YOU CAN HELP IT.

Lack of a close station would be the only logical reason why you wouldn't run it everyday. Seriously I would drive out of my way to fill up for 50-80 more HP and just as much TQ. Would love to see the numbers comparison on the R35.

My experience with E85 is about a 25%- 28% MPG loss on my daily commute. I average around 13.5 MPG on Ethanol and around 16.5 MPG on gasoline (E10). 93 is currently around 2.87/gal and E85 is around 2.35/gal, so it is more expensive to run E85.

E85, depending on the mix for the season (we get grades 1 and 2 here), will require around 30% more fuel delivery, but with the efficiency of the fuel comes increased tq as well, so you use less throttle in DD conditions. This is why the 30% extra fuel delivery doesn't translate directly over to MPG.

I'm with Hurell. I do like supporting domestic industry and it's nice to just have the power on tap when you want it. If I'm planning for a long trip, I'll usually switch to 93 in the tank before I leave just to be sure I don't get stuck without a station around while running out the E85. But I generally run E85 most of the time because I don't put too many miles on the car and want to have E85 for autocross weekends and hate getting stuck with 1/4 tank of 93 the morning of an event.

Hey guys, sorry I wasn't on here much over the weekend to answer some of these questions. I have not noticed a significant dropoff in fuel economy so far, although I am still testing this. I would say around a 20% difference would be pretty accurate. The gains have been....noticeable ;)

Jason, to answer your question, we tune the R35s with the Cobb AccessPort. This allows us to switch maps fairly easily. Mixing 93 oct and E85 would be a big mistake. As the car is not tuned for this it would likely cause huge issues with the tune. I would need to run as close to empty as possible and then switch over to a different octane and switch the map using the Cobb AP. As mentioned before this is done pretty easily. We have a station about 6 miles from Forged. I plan to run E85 all the time. I'll go over to the station once a week, fill up, and fill 4-5 containers (5 gal) full of E85. I'll use as needed throughout the week. Keep in mind E85 does go bad, so it is important to use it fairly quickly. As some of the other members here have mentioned, I am all for supporting a domestic market for fuel which is also more ecofriendly :)

The gains were pretty impressive. We are definitely maxing out the stock turbo's now as the falloff in power up top is pretty significant. Gains were roughly 35whp which isn't much, but the torque jumped up about 80-85 ft/lb. I'll post up the graphs later today. The power under the curve was the big difference. Peak gains were not significant, but there was a noticeable increase in both hp and tq all until around 6000 rpm. The response the car now has is ridiculous. I couldn't be happier with the outcome. A radiator upgrade and a larger set of IC's is next to help with the temps.

80-85 ft pounds DAMN

Those are great gains. I look forward to seeing the graph. I know I got a lot of gains below peak as well. I saw about 35 ft/lb peak gains, but some areas were 50+ft/lb. The response you get on the low end really is worth running E85 all the time.

Here is the graph on the E85 readout. I'll try to get an overlay of the E85 vs the 93 oct map shortly. I was also mistaken earlier, it actually made 578 tq. You can see the power start to fall off around 5500. Just blowing hot air at this point. I need a nice set of IC's for sure. I don't believe there is much more left from a power standpoint on the stock turbo's.
