Ok, so I have to get a list together for my wife and mom to pick from for christmas presents. I currently have a TBE, Intake, and Boost gauge. I am planning to get tuned the first of the year (when I get my loan check for school). I am torn between what I want and what I need(roughly $400 total to spend between them both). Out of the following, what would you get?
For the tune I need-
IX Bov ($100)
Hallman Pro RX MBC ($100)
I really want-
Cusco Version 1 lower tie bar to replace the stock one(more bend in the cusco bar to accomodate my 3" dp being too large) ($70)
Stoptech S.S. brake lines ($190)
I might wait on this stuff, but these are maintenance things I will need soon-
Stoptech or equivalent slotted front rotors ($230)
Front pads ($100)
Motul Fluid ($50)
I went with ATE Super Blue fluid, SS lines, And Hawk hp plus F&R pads and I am very impressed...I would do some brake work. I would not go with drilled or slotted rotors though

Would you go with that stuff before power adders(like bov & MBC)?

If andrew tunes you, you will not need a MBC, if you do, he has them inhouse and will only sell you one if he thinks you need one. I would go with the tune for sure, and then some pads, then brake lines, then rotors if you need them. Or if you can afford it, do all the brakes at the same time, especially the pads and rotors since it is recommended you do them at the same time. Just my 2c

Do the IX DV for sure, but to be totally honest i like having a MBC and the Hallman is great having come from the old TurboXS i had and noticed boost holding better. I hold steady at 20psi and spike to 21. Not sure how much it would drop with the factory BCS.
As far as the other stuff def. get pads and rotors man. I know how much you wanna go to the mtns. and those Autozone ones just dont cut it. I know ive had em too. And if you dont want to spend a buttload of money on Ferodos or even Hawks go with the Axxis Ultimates. Its what i had on the last run and pretty much everyone (seems the Evos were fine though) was having brake fade, but i was doing fine and i got the pads for 70 bucks or so through Fahim. He got me front and rear brembo slotted rotors and the pads for no more than 500 if my memory is correct.
Also who are you going with on the tune? I would honestly recommend just buying or borrowing a tactrix cable and paying Mellon tuning on EvoM to do your car. Its like doing an Email road tune. He will continue to make changes until the tune is perfect. Im just not 100% satisfied with Andrews tune and they havent responded to my last emails to try to correct the tune. Im going to give them one more shot though.

I'd go with pads and rotors and then a tune,
I have cross-drilled and slotted on the front and just slotted on the back and everything is fine, they also stop just as good on the last mountain run as my others did, hawk pads also, no cracks or anything around holes on the rotors.
my list would be
pads
fluid
rotors
bov( plastic ones crack after 20psi mine and other people's have)
mbc
tune (remember your already half way tuned with timing, intake, and boost there not going to get to much more power out of it with just fixing the a/f. they will get alittle more though with fine tuning.)
IC pipping
cams w/ head studs
then handling
tie-bars
not knowing too much about evos (?plastic BOV?) I would not do aBOV unless I was in REALLY high Hp

the bov's on Evo VIII's are plastic and crack opne after about 19-20psi so you need a new one if your going to get tuned cause after tune u usually run 20-23psi, the Evo IX's came with a metal one and hold all the way to 25-26psi

The biggest thing that I wanted to get out of the tune was a better a/f ratio since I seem to be running rather rich(correct me if I'm wrong Alan). I guess I could just go ahead and get the brakes done since one of the front rotors has a bad spot. Maybe I can still squeeze a bov in there if I'm really sweet.
I have 3 questions:
1.So what front/rear pads do you guys recommend for a budget like mine?
2.Slotted or blanks for rotors(and brand preferred)?
3.Are S.S. lines a have-to-have item for occasional mtn/spirited runs?

Yes u r running pig rich, lol
1. hawk hps are good pads and fairly cheap
2. blanks would probabley be better for u(not alot of hard driving and most shops can't turn a slotted rotor, which can reduce pad life)
3. no not a must have, i don't have them, though they are great to have.

Well then that's what I'll do! Anybody know a good place to order some blanks (stock rotors)?

the dealershio in union city has something going on with Evo's and a club they gave me 60.00 off my Idle control motor. instead of 360.00 it was only 300.00.
And thge guy said they had speicals every month, its weird dealerships don't usually do anything like that.
you can try them and then see what they cost else where.
Its Don Jackson Mitsubishi
I am asking for a couple new lenses for the camera :)
