View Full Version : If you could get any wheel...

If you could get any wheel under...lets say $1500, what would you get? I would like to know color, fitment, and wheel size opinions too. I don't want anything bigger than 18x9.5. This will be happening in the next couple of months, so I want to go ahead and throw around some ideas.

Ah that's cool.....well let me ask ya how do u like dem tires then??
I would say the RPF1 also but they come in a crazy offset for the X +15 and I'm guessin that would take a lil more fender moddin or more than I already have and I don't wanna do that!!

I saw that you comented on some Gold Advan RGIIs on evom. That guy ended up selling em for $1300 shipped cause of some minor curb rash. Those are my dream wheels & I missed out too. :(

I really do like the RPF1s. I also am thinking about tire prices when you jump up to an 18" rim. It is a big difference in price.
Also, what do you guys think about the Work Emotion XD9 in bronze or silver with red lug nuts?

I agree, Andy. The RGIIs in gold have always been one of my favorite wheels ever, but the price is really high. I would die if I curbed one!

Brett, 2 pieces of advice: spend the money on the 18's!! you WILL regret it when the 17 inch wheels do not look right on your car! It happened to me with my silver Advan RZ. Then I had to go through the trouble of selling them to jump up to the 18 inch RS. Do it right the first time!! In addition, be careful of red lugs. I got some Rays Eng. red lugs and they looked pink! NOT COOL! Get black or silver. And get some locking lugs as well.

I think the RPF1's in a high polish would look sick on your car. Also I wouldn't skimp on tires. The NT05's are amazing and well worth the money. I was rolling on my roommates 18x9 Rotas with NT05's for a bit after he wrecked his evo and I loved the look of the 18's over my old 17x9's and the car handled like it was on rails. The tires were perfect for my coilover.
With that said I'd go for an 18in Rota with the NT05's since you have a 1500 dollar budget. I think my buddy paid around 1200 for Rotas with the NT05's, but the Work XD9's are a sexy wheel too.

yeah i agree 18's will look a lot nicer.. but since i am tending to get more in autox and track days its nice to spend money on tires for 17's vs 18's... wish i could have two sets of wheels 17's for track and 18's for show...
correct me if i'm wrong.. i was just looking around and your tire selection for the 18's go down.... a lot... i could find the nitto nt05's, kumho xs in 255/40/18 or 255/45/18.. but i was just looking on discounttire.com found both of them in 17's

tell him to get the size you want and he can keep whatever else he gets out.

I like the rims in the last pics on page 1, nice, Sams old rims are tight too, but then the sbc RPF's, not the silver..........all are nice and whatever you get you'll want another set anyways, LOL. Trust me, I know. Enkei has they're "new" set out that looks like the IX rim, not feeling them. You could always try to find a used set of Volks or something too.... decisions, decisions.

I think you were looking at the wrong tire sizes. For an 18x8.5-10 inch wheel you really want a 255/35. It's the closest to the overall stock rolling diameter. tire size selection (as far a performance tires) should go up a ton 18" diameter vs. 17"

The XD9's are nice, they are just really heavy compared the the Enkei's. I guess if you don't expect to track the car then it's not really a concern for you.
