Well I installed my BC Racing coilovers last night. It took me about two hours to install the whole set. It wasn't too difficult. I made the mistake though of not adjusting the height before I installed them. I didn't realize just how low these things could make your car sit. I was able to adjust the height of the rear ones with not too much problem. The front ones are giving me some trouble though. The question I have is how to adjust the height of the front ones? They have three sleeves on them; one on the bottom and two at the top. The instructions say to loosen the bottom one and to turn the whole assembly to raise it. I've also read on another forum that you adjust coilovers by loosening the bottom sleeve and then turning the top two to increase the height. Which one is it?

Nice! Are coilovers inverted, if not does BC Racing make inverted coilovers for the Genesis?

If they are the BR Series then you want to adjust the height on the shock body not by lifting the spring.

Yes BC Racing does make inverted coilovers for the Genesis Coupe.

They are the BR Series. That's what the instructions said as well. Well at least for what I could understand from their translation. Would you suggest doing this with it on or off the car? I'm looking for the easiest way.

Would you mind posting a picture of what the coilover looks like on the car? I know it's a stupid request but I'll be able to explain how to adjust it easier. :)

I won't be able to do that until I get home from work. I have to remove the wheels in order to get a picture. Cicio hit the nail on the head though. I just need to see if the easiest way to adjust them is to remove the whole coilover or adjust it while it's on the car.

Front end on jacks or on a lift...adjust the height even on both sides, put wheels back on and set it on the ground. Repeat tell your at your desired ride height. :D

If you need it corner balanced, or consulting on good rebound and dampening adjustments let me know.

Hope this helps.

^ my personal way of doing it is removing the bottom bolts leave the top and adjusting the height... thats how i did it on the 240.. mine look like this .. the front ones... are on the right.. i just counted the threads in b\t to make sure they are all even on all sides

I got everything sorted out. It took me many hours of trial and error to finally get the drop I wanted. I started off too low and then too high and finally a combination of both until I got it just right. I'm so frickin tired right now. I still needed to get ready for this weekend's autocrosses.

That doesn't matter. We'll still run as long as it's not lightning. Plus the futurecast weather models have it raining between tomorrow afternoon and through Saturday night, which would mean that we would miss the rain.

Or unless you go too fast like me and come close to a pole. Dan was riding shotgun in that event, lol.

Well I'm sitting here getting ready for the Novice School and all I see is frickin rain. At least the futurecast is showing clearing.

That was fun Craig. You weren't even close to a pole though. ;)

How did the event go, Dan?

We got rain the whole day on Saturday for the Novice School, but at least Sunday was a nice day for autocrossing. I didn't do as well as I was hoping. I think I was a little gun shy because Saturday I kept spinning out so I didn't push as hard as I normally do on Sunday.

Could you tell a difference with the coils on there?

That's exactly how I did it, but I'm hearing contradictory ways from other people. They are saying to adjust the top collars to adjust the height but I thought those were the collars for the preload of the springs.

MeFryRice

You're correct. When you adjust the height by the collars, you're also removing some of the preload.

what you really need is a ride height gauge of some sort and measure how the car sits level not how it looks.
then again you will need a flat perfect leveled surface....

take it to a place where they do corner balancing and alignment.

form follows function.

Cicio does topspeed tune suspension....I think mine had the springs adjusted and not the shock body. I've heard horror stories about Gran Turismo

I've heard both good and bad things about GT...but that's with any shop now and days.

I'm interested in getting corner balanced and a proper alignment. I'm leaning towards GTE but feeling kind of apprehensive because of Hurrell's and Mike's statements. Comments are welcomed.
