This thread will be a place for discussion on when and where, car set up, etc. I hope everyone gets to do this and really see what an Evo can do! Trust me you will be HOOKED!

Excellent point Craig. I also convinced another Genesis Coupe owner to join in the fun. He will be driving in Novice class since this is his first time. I would like to see some other evoatlanta members out there ripping it up though.

Have fun pushing your car to the limit in a controlled manner or walking around looking at Hondas? I think the choice is clear. :D

LOL yeah, I saw the other coupe signed up for novice. See you Sunday, I want to win SM so bad this time! I am doing another alignment this Saturday, dialing in toe.

It's $40 per event for non-SCCA members. You can register on www.motorsportreg.com. I believe registration ends Saturday evening. You do not have to be a member to attend. Ensure you sign up as a Novice at first. Look forward to seeing you out there.

$40 for non-members and novice class. Follow the link in the second post. It will take you to soloatlanta.com's forum. Then follow there link to motorsportsreg.com(it will take you directly to there points3 event sign-up). From there read and scroll down to the bottom of the page and you will find a green bar labeled continue. Click that and open an account with motorsportsreg.com. Then using you account and a credit card you can sign-up and pay in advance. There is no showing up, paying, and running the event on Sunday. All payments and sign-up must be done before Saturday night, but Friday just to be safe. Be sure to take full advantage of the novice program for you will learn a ton! Hope to see everyone there! You can just show up Sunday and watch and possible hitch a ride if someone is willing, they have loaner helmets. Bring snacks, drinks, a hat, tire gauge, blue painters tape, and maybe chairs. Dan if I forgot anything chime in. Sorry for any typo's or grammer issues, this was typed at work on an iPhone, lol.

My buschur magnaflow with test pipe was 92.8 db at the first event. Sound max before a DNF is 93 db. At Tuner Field with a "donkey dick" turndown tip I was at 86db, but the measuring station was different so I really don't know how much the exhaust modification helped.

It's for numbering. You don't have to be there until 11 but it would benefit you to be there earlier so you can the other cars running and get an idea of the best way to attack the course.

BTW it was good to see everybody there. It really turned out to be a large Evo meet. :D Now for all of you that didn't run today, you have two weeks to prepare for the next one. Let's get to it.

Anytime Jon! Great to see all the Evo guys! A really good showing in the SM class! 1 second was the split between 1st and 5th! I managed a 47.8 second run and jumped from 4th to 2nd on my final run! Amazingly fun course!

Good job Craig. You beat my time by 1.2 seconds. Damn I miss autocrossing my Evo. :D I still think I could have dropped another second off my time if I had seen what other driver's were doing after the slalom. The Pros and the ST Civics would just lift off the gas and steer right as opposed to me hitting the brakes. I failed to realize just how fast it was.

I'll get the other ones loaded up this afternoon. I had four runs and I accidently left the camera on for a good five minutes after the run was over. I'm learning how to edit mp4 files so I don't try and upload a 1GB file to Youtube.

For those that are wondering I placed fourth out of 12 for STX class. The next autocross (25 April) I will be running in the afternoon so come on by and see the fun. It really does turn into a larger meet.

Chemwarrior
04-12-2010, 12:28 PM
I've never stayed long enough for the results, do they actually hand out trophies? I know in my last region they did. There was less than a second difference between fourth and first in my class. If I had taken that right hand sweeper after the slalom quicker I bet I could have picked up a second.

There is more flexibility for people that run in Novice. I don't think they have to abide by the same restrictions because they don't acquire any points so enough excuses and bring your ass out. :D

Just registered. For those that are going to attend the autocross on 25 April be aware there is no novice orientation due to the Novice school on Saturday, 24 April.

Chemwarrior
04-14-2010, 08:45 AM
I just registered for the Novice School on 24 April. It's only $60 for SCCA members and $75 for non-members. You will get ALOT of seat time for this event. It beats the hell out of the amount of seat time you would get for a normal autocross. What's also great about the Novice School is that you will get an experienced autocrosser to ride along with you giving experienced input to help improve your driving ability.

Now I just have to wait for my coilovers to arrive next week. :(

Hey Chintan. The $75 for the Novice School is just for Saturday's event. I don't think it would be financially beneficial for you to sign up for SCCA unless you plan on attending more events.

Hey Jon. SM (street modified) is pretty much the unlimited class. I don't think there is any limit on tire size, I promise you are ok to run SM. I have seen dude run 265's and larger at nationals in SM. I believe someone on Evom is preping a car with a full set of 285's!!!! But for know run novice and I would highly recommend that anyone who has not autox'd take the Saturday novice class since there is no novice orentation Sunday. I hope to see everyone out! PS save the pink temporary SCCA sign up sheets when you sign in at the event. The are good for $15 off an SCCA membership, and you can us up to 2. So $30 off a membership!

that was what was confusing me. the "rules" state up 255, but then on evom like you said the "norm" is to run 285.

The 255 is for ST classes but since you have mods that put you into SM then you are pretty much unlimited.

Could I do novice on the 25th or a later date?

Lucas

Absolutely. You can do novice anytime there is an autocross. Novice is just a class that runs with everyone else during the autocross. There just happens to be a Novice School on the 24th along with a regular autocross event on the 25th. It's two different events. If you are interested in doing it on the 25th or any other day ensure you sign up on www.motorsportreg.com. Come on out and have some fun.

Kuruma
04-15-2010, 10:17 AM
Novice is at every event. But this up coming event is special due to the novice school on Saturday. Which means no novice orentation on Sunday. If you have never autox'd before and don't fully understand what is a proper cone penalty. Because a miss called cone by you can cause someone a first place. So I highly suggest an event that will include a novice orentation unless you have autox'd before.

I may signup for it. I have been to the Auto-X's for the past two years with my friend. He has taught me a lot on how they work. He used to have a WRX, then and STi, now he has a E30.
