Who is thinking about trading up when the X is released here. Everyone seems to be digging the new look and performance numbers. I like the X, but I will be a skeptic about how good it really is until I am proven wrong. I am very curious to see just how good the 4B11 is over time. Will the X be as receptive to mods and tuning?
Discuss.

I am gonna, especially with the way the new WRX has turned out :(
Although, I am still saving my final judgement for when I see the new STI in person, but the Evo X is definitely leading the pack right now

i will if the dealership gets one down here they only got like 3 IX's when they came out. lol
It is faster around a track supposly then a VIII, but we will see, the problem is in America we're more of a straight line racing country not a curve taking kind, lol
Nascar only makes left turns except twice a year, if they did it anymore they all would wreck, lol
The U.S is focused on how fast straight can it go(but we are getting better the C6 vette, Viper and Ford GT really handle well) so the public might not like it so much but only the real drivers will understand which is the way it should be.

It's not all about the power initially-since all you would have to do is bolt on and tune to get the extra power like our VIII and IX's. I just hoped that the base numbers would be at least over 300 for the people that prefer stock performance without the hassles of tuning. The biggest thing for me is the S-AWC. I'm not so sure if I prefer the paddle shifting. It sounds good in theory, but I think it takes the driver's skill out of the equation.

But we're not sure how well it acts to mods, it will take some time for aftermarket to get going since its a new platform and everything, and then also how much it will cost to mod and make good power, in a VIII TBE, MBC, Tune is 290-310whp a IX its about 320-330whp so we will see.

The X will defiently present a new challenge to tuners especially with the SST trans. Since not only will they have to tune the new drive by wire system, but the trans will have to be tuned to match up with the new upgrades. The good thing is this will eliminate the need to change out the gear and increase and decrease the ratio (for the most part) as some of it could probably be done through the trans ECU. They've done it with the E46 M3's and correct me if im wrong, but the new WRX's/STi's are drive by wire, so i dont think it'll be a problem.
The biggest thing will be turbo upgrades as the turbo is up againist the firewall, like the SRT-4's but they have a good bit of clearance between the firewall and turbo, so there might be a limit to how large of a turbo upgrade will fit.

I will probably test it just to see what it is like. However, I dont see myself buying one. Plus I will probably be banned from Mitsubishi after I scare the hell out of the dealer ;)

Ya, I think you still remember me drifting your car the first time I drove it :D What can I say, I like to drive cars hard. I think my Forodo's need changing too. This time next year I will hopefully have a 6 front 4 rear set of brakes, that is if I can cough up the 8K it will probably cost me ;(
