i want to get a second opinion on my plugs. im running stock heat range plugs(hell they might be the oem plugs with 47k miles on them) and i think they are to "hot" of a plug for 380hp.. let me know what you think... my afr's are 11+-
.. i am about to order denso 1 step colder plug

They look a little worn, but otherwise look fine to me. As I mentioned in another thread, you can't really read plugs unless you pull them right after a tuning session or if you definitely have one fouled.

Also, I'm currently at 30k+ on my stock plugs and running around 390 hp with no issues. But, I've tuned cars running the NGK 8 plugs with great results. Bo experience with the Denso plugs though.

denso's are trash. We have seen a few cases of them breaking and dropping down into the motor.

Stock all the way on the IX's.

^ NOT trying to fight, but I have run Denso's pretty much the entire life of my car 51k+. Many on Evolutionm also run these.

Any plug can break, the only variable that comes into play that effects wether a plug breaks or not is how hard the car is driven. I run NGK's BPR8EIX which I have some complaints about as well.

I'm confused on how this happens ... the electrode breaks?

Also, on topic, I'm probably going to pick up some stockers soon and gap them down a hair. I really like NGK plugs and wish the 8 heat range were more affordable.

There are several reported cases of problems with the Denso plugs. Just because you have not had any issues with them does not mean they are as safe as OEM.

That's like saying "I have run meth 51k+ miles with no issues and many others on evolutionm have run this as well" Just because you/others have run it does not mean it is the safest/preferred plug.

Yes, any plug can break. However, how hard the car is driven is NOT the only variable that comes into play. I can't tell you how many cases I have seen of Denso plugs breaking. I have yet to see firsthand a case where an OEM plug has broken. I am sure there are cases, but when one plug consistently breaks/fails and another doesn't... well I know which plug I would use.

Yes, I know it sounds bizarre, but we have seen this a few times here. I have also talked to CBRD and AMS about this and have also heard of cases just like this. Reason enough for me to stay away from Denso's. I ran Denso's in my IX MR for about 3 months with no issues. However, when my car was up at CBRD Chad convinced me to go back down to the stock plugs. I have run the stock plugs ever since.

I can't get a stock plug to last, let alone perform well for my car. I have had good luck out of my NGK BR8EG plugs. Been running them for more than 2 years.

I'm in the same boat man. Never ran Denso.....NGK is what I recommend.

I have always used NGK on my 8. Just not the IX. I have never heard of issues on the IX with NGK though.

I've always had good experiences with NGK. I usually recommend them as well.

My car has been thru many modding paths, some good some bad. many different tuners. most of which suggested the very plugs I was already running.

Mike if you dont feel comfortable running them, i will take them!

Cool. just trying to 'give' you a way out if you wanted. I like the plugs and like previously said have run them for years. as a matter of fact, I believe I am one of the very few on this board who has had my car since new. Everything good or bad done to if was my victory or my fuck up.

I mean in all honesty though, people always have thier preferences on what they wanna run in thier cars, wether it's fluids, plugs, brands what have you. i don't like the whole hear say stuff, just because you seen someone break one unless you installed the part your self it doesn't really matter. it's just like a warranty. if you have someone else install an oem part doesn't mean that your factory warranty will cover the part if it goes out. you never know what people do to thier cars, some people are really retarded when working on thier cars and have no idea what thier doing but think they do and ends in EPIC FAIL. like the cat that put nos energy drink in his bike thinking it was octane booster. so i'm done now.

NGK BPR8EIX i replace them once a year. I order from rockAuto online usually about $35 for four plus $6 shipping. I swear by them and those who have tried them on my recommend on evom have had the same experience. :)

i know i have an 8 ryan was talking about using ngk VIII or IX im just chiming in to say ngk is all ive used but in the iridium version only not the copper plugs,

consensus on evom over the past 3 years ive been on is def ngk. ryan is also right about cbrd sticking with ngk,

bottom line they work very well

You know, any spark plug can and will break if it detonates good enough, is too lean....

put the denso ikh24 gapped at .025 in and i am deff happy with the results.... the car seems smother through the boost curve and idle... and my afk( witch is set waaayyyyyy to sensitive for my car) read lower "knocks"... even though the most "real" knock seen out of my tune was 1 count..lol my afk will read 100 counts sometimes when cruising..lol... if someone can help fine tune that damn thing i would be so grateful!!!!
