I have reset this controller more times then I can remember. I have had help from numerous sources......researched it on line and I have come to the conclusion......this is way too much work for the benefits. So I will be going ECU controlled boost now. I'm probably going to order the parts tomorrow.

Anyone know how much the EVC VI is worth used?

I feel your pain, Hurrell. This is why I ditched the EBC for an MBC....haven't looked back since.

The problems I'm having right now are when I have it set for 30 PSI I get 36.5 spiked tapered off to 32ish. I tried messing with the co-effcient on initial setup and the best i could get was 25 PSI (I set it for 25 and thats what I got)......after I set it there I started turning the boost up and it started going over what I set it for (Set it for 27 and it was going up to 30 PSI).

2nd issue I have is the spiking.....Right now the controller is set up for 30 PSI and it shots to 36.5 and tapers to 32 PSI.

Its been so long and so many attempts at trying to follow the instructions and having touring bubble and blewbyyou help........

I'm done. I like electronic boost controllers and I actually liked the Apex i AVCR and that was complicated......this shit is retarded for no GDamn reason. ECU controlled makes the most sense and quite frankly if I had the choice (I bought the car with the EBC) I would've gone ECU controlled from jump street. Set it, forget it. I don't mess with my boost anyways.

My boost gauge only goes to 30PSI right now anyways so knowing the ECU can read and control the boost properly is more then advantagous.....to me its prudent planning.

yeah i understand the spiking.. i dont have to bad of a spiking problem.. maybe 1-1.5psi.... how do you fine tune it again??

In one of the Fun settings.....but then you have to plot throttle and rpm points.....there is a post on evom about it. Someone made a laymans guide to setting that up and thats supposed to help with the boost curve......honestly looking at it why the hell does a boost controller require such a herculean effort to get working properly. I'm sure there are other people smarter then me that can do this but even if I pay someone to do this if I ever have to reset it or have to do it over again I'll have ot pay someone again.....FThat.

EVC will be going up for sale before the end of the week.

Honestly, it works very similarly to ECU boost control, but the interface is not as good. the "fuzzy logic" part is the pain.

For your boost level, I'd suggest going with the OMNI 4-bar MAP. I've set those up with ECU boost and they are a great option and will handle your boost levels.

Thats what I was looking at. I'm pricing it out today and I will see if I can get one one by the weekend so we can pick up where we left off. Do you need to send me a new map? I was in the process of upgrading ECUFlash to V7 and adding the ECU controlled boost options and the scaling for the Omni Bar

If your switching over to V7 then yes, send me what you've done. Are you scaling all of the fuel/timing maps over to the V7 tables?

I was going to attempt it...do you think I should stay on V5 and just add the edits for the Omni Power Map?

I'm easy either way. Checking with Buschur to see how quickly they can get me one.

I'll send you my ecuflash settings plus my evoscan settings and you let me know if you're good. I'm staying on V5 for now...no need to complicate things.

Also what else is needed besides the Omni 4 Bar and modifying my ECU?

TouringBubble

Well, it might be beneficial or you to go with V7. The increased resolution of the maps will help keep a flat fuel curve with the power you're running. V5 will work fine, but V7 is better in that respect. Takes a little longer to tune though.

You need a 3-port boost solenoid, such as the Ingersol Rand. Lots of people sell them. I believe Tactrix sells a plug-n-play version. Most others have to be tapped in to the system.

So Tactrix 3 port boost solenoid, Omni Power 4 Bar sensor and converting to Tephra V7.

Stupid question Bubble, if I don't have to copy the XML coding into the existing 88590015 map and just copy the V7 XML over to the romdata folder in Open ECu then how the hell do I force ECUFlash to open my rom with new Tephra V7?

I know its probably an easy fix but its been a while since I've had to mess with my XML files on ECUFlash

what you aint answering the phone now!
jeez. i left you a message and sent a pm. hope that helps

the V7 ROM will be a 88590715 instead of 88590015 and ECUFlash will see it automatically, assuming you have a definition file for 88590715. Otherwise, you'll get an error for the missing definition.

I didn't get any errors. What table would be new to V7 (so I know its seeing it correctly)

Also I assume the tactrix 3 port boost solenoid will work with the Omni Power 4 Bar MAP sensor, yes?!!

TouringBubble

the Fuel and Timing tables are much larger. Also, there are gear based boost control tables.

Yes, the 2 function independently and the system works with both.

Purchased Omni from Buschur and Tactrix BCS from Tactrix. Hopefully both will be here on Monday. I'm double checking my ECUflash settings and evoscan before I send. You can let me know if its ok.

Thanks a bunch Matt.

NP. I'll get you updated and ready to load the new ROM by Monday when you install the parts. We'll start out with a low boost level to make sure the system is working correctly and go up from there.
