I had the opportunity to tune Jon's car last weekend. He's loving it again. His mods are in his signature.

We got out on the road and 1 gear, then 2nd, and when he said third he put both hands on the wheel really tight! I was thinkin come on dude it's not gonna HOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLYYYYYY SHIIIIIIIIIT slow down!!!!!! ahahahah it was frickin insaine! Awesome car and good work Mike!

I actually do carry....if I showed up they would've locked my black ass up first, asked questions later.

This is true. the law is open to interpretation. Whether they think its a gathering, which normally means 100$ people.

this red spools slower than my 3582 :(
he's at full spool by 4350-4450 i don't believe thats very laggy at all. isn't a 3583 close to the spool of a 35r??

Look at the first two numbers that says it all I would believe so VIIIrs. The RED is one of the best damn turbos PERIOD no and's if's or BUTT's about it quick spool BUTT good up top. Spool is great but how bout power numbers then bigric09?

3582 is a 35r
With out logging boost this is a dead argument. I am a lover of the T3 frames though :)

I am assuming what he is running for boost by peak torque which is showing in the graph as after 5000 rpms. I agree without seeing a boost curve its hard to discuss. Please dont misunderstand me, im not bad mouthing the tune, the car or anything... just making the observation and comparison that my IX with a larger turbo has a better torque curve.
As for peak HP for the guy that asked as if this was going to make a point... on the mustang dyno here in town which reads very low and much lower than the dyno used, i sit at a nice comfortable 500+ at 28 psi. I hit max torque at about 4700 RPM.
Bruce's (Ultim8mind) evo, that i sold to him, hit 499.8 on this same mustang at 30 psi and spools by 4200 or 4300... he is also running something similar to a 35. I use his as an example as i have a built bottom end. This shouldnt really matter except for peak numbers, but I'm throwing it out there.

These "Dyno Calculators" based on logs always show peak torque later in the revs. DataLog Lab (which I use) does the same thing. Horsepower, however, seems to be really close to an actual dyno. So, I do believe these calculations are really close as far as numbers, but the curves are not perfect.
An older graph of mine for comparison ...

EDIT :: I just realized the notes in the graph are wrong ... they were 235/45/17s, not 18s. Either way ...

those calculators are practically useless though...
everytime i use them.... i can run back to back runs giving sufficient time to cool between them and they always come out different, and when i say different they are 5 to 10% different. They are just unreliable and even hard to use as a tuning tool because of the inconsistency.
I understand that not everyone has a dyno available or can afford to hop on and off as they please, its just hard to see numbers referred to as my car made 500whp on a calculator because far too often on a real dyno it shows something in the mid 400s. I use to use dataloglab way back when i first started tuning. After working with johnbradley and getting the mustang numbers thrown in, it was somewhat accurate to my peak hp, but again, id hit that number about 1 out of every 4 pulls. Meanwhile on the dyno, during 4 pulls, id maybe notice a difference of 1% +or-.

Ok bigric it seemed as if you are/were bad mouthing his choosen turbo

no, not at all.... the red is a nice setup for sure. Personally i like the black better as far as stock frame turbos go, but that is really just preference. What concerned me is the spool with the graph that is posted. It doesnt seem right compared to my 35. My turbo should not spool faster than the red... if it is, then there may be some underlying issues to address, either tune related, vacuum leak related or whatever. If it is as TB posted, just a glitch with the software... then great, and he just needs to hop on an actual dyno to confirm and see where his numbers actually are.
Im going to d/l the dyno simulator software and run a pull on mine just to see how it compares. It has me curious now.

I've not had issues with consistency using DLL. But, I take special care to do pulls in the exact same location when there is a need to compare numbers. When doing that, numbers are within 5hp very consistently, which I feel is equivalent to a dyno.
When doing parts development, I would do 3 pulls with the same settings in the same location to verify accuracy and they were always very close ... I used the average/middle graph in these cases.
