Ok guys, its the time I have been dreading since I bought the car..........Dun Dun Dun....Time for a new clutch:eek:!!
I would love to drop 1600 on a Exedy Twin but that just isnt gonna happen right now so I've been looking at the ACTs and they seem like a good buy for my price range.
Power Goals : 400 - 450
Driveability: I dont DD the car but I would still like something bout as close to stock as I can get but I know with my goals I will have to give on something.
Thanks Guys!

I've had the ACT street disc and really liked it. Drivablility is really good. Doesn't compare to the Exedy Twin though. If you plan to have the car for a while then get the Exedy. Even if you have to charge it! And you don't have to pay $1600 for it either. I got mine for $300 less. Check evom. Look for group buys or overstocked items.

Hold power nicely +, chattering on take off-, and has notorious high rpm lock-out another -
all around not a good DD clutch. let me put it this way, when i tried to sell my barely used one, it didnt go. now it is sitting on my balconey rusted from the elements.

Damn. @ Jon.
I've seen alot of people go the ACT/Competition route...only to end up getting an Exedy a year or too later or regretting it and saying they should've waited. You can drive you car normally for a while just don;t beat on it or it will go from need a clutch to have ot have a clutch to drive.
Exedy twin for the win. I would suggest my clutch but I probably wouldn't have bought it if I didn't pay cheap for it when buying the car.

if you're going to spend $1300, you mind as well spend $1600. Look for a deal on one, I'm sure they're out there. Hit up bigric09, see what he can get them for, tell him Bruce told you to ask....

I had the ACT street for a year & really liked it. When I did the motor build I went ahead & upgraded to the 6 puck disc which isn't a very good street clutch in my opinion. I've gotten used to it but it's still a bit of a pain at times.

nope, had the 6 puck sprung. apparently alot of people had the 'issue' not sure on fix or what not. Jarrod( stg3tsi) or something like that has the 6 puck now, and he too said it chatters on take off. he is not a fan either, let him drive my exedy twin and he loved it.

ACT is way to go for both price and driveability.
and it will hold your goal net power.

I had the ACT clutch on my car the first go arround on the 2.0. Did not like it, had high rpm lock out like crazy. When I went with the 2.3, I upped the clutch to the twin (found one with 8k on it for $750) loved it, and it took all the abuse I could give it. Didnt slipped unless I hot lapped launching it. I put 12-14k on the excedy, so it had about 20k+ on it when I sold it. It is still running in the car.

I'm running the 6 puck Competition Clutch, and I like it so far. I have about 2k miles on it now. It is decent for a daily driver.
