okay well first off i have had an ic pipe pop off in the middle of me wot.. and didnt throw a cel light.. would you normally throw one? also after this whole o2 deal i decided to put a old wideband sensor in the place of the front o2 sensor to see if it would throw the code... and it didnt.. i drove around the neighborhood and no light and running great....would it normally come one pretty quick? i also noticed my stock diverter valve was crushed a little.... do you think the car was flashed and the o2 sensor are normally open now??

I don't know of anyone that forces open loop on a basic flash. It's possible that all of the codes may have been disabled, but that's also not a common practice.
Losing an IC pipe doesn't immediately trigger a CEL. All sensors read as normal when that happens, so unless you drive it for a while after and really throw off some readings, then you shouldn't get one.
The same goes for the O2 sensor. You'd have to drive the car until the fuel trims were in excess of 12.5% either way and also trigger a couple more specifics before the CEL would trip, assuming the sensor was still connected to the harness. A few WOT pulls wouldn't make a difference here as all of that is open loop.

my sensor wasnt connected to the harness......

Front or rear O2? The front O2 should have immediately triggered a code. If it was the rear, the code may be disabled as that is a common one to switch off.

it did finally come on after driving 4-5 miles...... im just going to go and get a universal boesch o2 and do this.... http://forums.evolutionm.net/evo-how-tos-installations/428553-diy-how-install-universal-bosch-o2-sensor.html

Have to agree about forcing open loop....the is kind of silly. It would totally take away the ECU's ability to monitor itself in closed loop mode. I have done it before on crazy intakes to make sure I was as close as possible in open loop mode without the ECU interfering (on crappy intake designs)....but then I re-enable closed loop. No reason no to!

i knew how to take it all of as i did it in my first evo... but i had aem... so as far as not getting a cel light it has to be programed threw the ecu?

TouringBubble

Sure, I can help if you just need the Tephra patch and the EGR stuff disabled. Yes, you'll need a cable. I can PM you a price if you want. I also need to know if you're going speed density so I can get you the correct Tephra patch.

I can tune on a dyno if you're interested. You'd have to cover the dyno cost.
