The 2010 ALSCCA schedule is final. We've got Saturday and Sunday events this year. A lot of thought and discussion has gone in to planning this season and we've got a group of great event chairs and course designers to make things happen this year.

We usually get 6 runs per event on a ~50 sec course. If it is anything like last season, we should have fun runs after many events (depends on time).

We adopted a "split session" format last season, but I'm not sure it it will continue. This means that heats are split in half in the morning and evening which breaks up your working and driving shifts between the morning and afternoon.

We will also be running our Novice program again this year. New drivers compete against one another in our "Novice" PAX class and are given a guided course walk and get a ride along on the course before their first run. We are also continuing our Ladies PAX class and adding a Street Tire PAX class as well, for those who would like to run there.

I hope some of you guys can make it out this season.

Schedule and Info (http://www.frameleft.com/ALSCCA/2010SoloFlier.pdf)

SCCA Members - $30
Non-Members - $40 (you get a form that is good for $15 off an SCCA membership)

Events are held at the Birmingham Race Course (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=derby+dr+and+wright+way+trussville+al&sll=33.575351,-86.661594&sspn=0.014999,0.022423&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Wright+Way+%26+Derby+Dr,+Birmingham,+Jeffers on,+Alabama+35235&ll=33.574591,-86.660414&spn=0.0075,0.011212&t=h&z=17).

So many choices!!! What's the average amount of drivers per event?

Last season we had lower than average turnouts. it was to be expected with the economy. We had between 40 and 55 drivers at most events if I recall correctly, with a large novice group at most events ... up to 20 novices sometimes.

Back in '07 we had 117 drivers at our first event. It dropped to the 70s at the end of the season. '08 averaged in the mid 70s I believe.

I also just saw that ARSCCA released their 2010 schedule. Now I have to split my time between Atlanta, Middle Georgia and now possibly Alabama.

Let me know your class and I can give you an idea of the usual competition. We've got a nice CSP class and SM will be very fun in 2010. ST has some cars, but STS, STX and STU are usually pretty bare. We should ahve a couple of STR cars next season though.

I now run in STX with my Genesis Coupe. I ran in SM when I had the Evo.

Where's the schedule at? I didn't see the 2010 schedule on the ALSCCA website.

The schedule is on the flier in the first post.

Yeah, our Web updater guy hasn't done crap on the site in a year or so. They won't give me the info to update it. I'm working on that. Everything is in the forum.

I like how most of your events are on a Saturday and don't fall on the same weekend as the ARSCCA events.

We schedule around the neighboring regions when possible. Atlanta, TVR and Wiregrass members drive with us often.

I just got finished inputting your dates, ARSCCA dates and waiting on Middle Georgia dates into Outlook so I can determine which events I'm going to.

Cool. I look forward to seeing you there at a few. I work registration, so you'll see me.

Oh, and a group of us go to a local sports bar after every event. You should plan to come too.

The cool thing is that I have a sister that lives in Bessemer.

i dont like that split time deal... you just feel like you are not running as much and always running around. i liked all 5 runs at once.

if you dont wanna run in the mornings be in the group that runs in the after noons. :P

The split groups is a better format honestly. You don't get people complaining about always running in the morning or working during the hottest part of the day. Groups share the conditions since there is no morning and afternoon group. Once we started this, we have had virtually no complaints about class pairings and run times, which we used to have at nearly every event.

The TRSCCA also runs this way. We usually have four runs in the morning, switch to working the course, eat a quick lunch, do four more runs, switch to working the course and then clean up. Everybody enjoys it this way.

She's 42 you big dummy. Why would I have a sister that is 17 when my children are 17 and 15? Let me ask you this. Is it dark and do you smell shit? Guess what that means.

Your head is up your ass.

Thinking about coming out to this Matt. There is a four week lapse between events here so I'm going through withdrawals for autocrossing. Is it necessary to preregister or can I show up and register. What time would I have to be there?

TouringBubble

Just had to make sure the date was correct. Our site backed out on us for Saturday events so they've all been moved to Sunday. This week's event was already planned for Sunday, so that's good.

You can pre-register here under ALSCCA ... https://axwaresystems.com/axorm/calendar_main.php. Registration and tech close at 9:00 and cars are usually off by 10:00. We've been finishing up around 3:30 or 4:00 recently.

I hope you can make it out.

Can I just register the morning of on site? How many runs do you usually get?

TouringBubble
05-19-2010, 12:00 PM
Yes, you can, but I prefer that you do it online as I'm the registrar. =) It just saves time with new drivers. We usually have about 50% of the turnout register online.

We usually get 6 runs. We split them up ... 3 in the am and 3 after lunch. That keeps people from complaining about who got the good asphalt.

Hmm, BMWCCA, PCA, ARSCCA busy already and in need of a clutch. I will really try and make it out. Hey, I will be that way July 11-13 for Cayenne gen 2 launch. It's at Barber, how close to there are you, maybe I could swing by.
