Hey guys, Planning a Track Day on March 12th, at Talladega Gran Prix. I'm currently working on getting the details from the track owners.

This is supposed to be fun not meant to be competitive!!!

So far I know:
We Need 15 people to make this happen!
Cost-$135 per driver!!!
Everyone must have a helmet.

This is an excellent course for beginners and first time track goers because of it's long runoffs and short straights, 100+ mph. Don't be fooled however, the course is very demanding and requires your full attention at all times. I have not mastered that blasted decreasing radius turn!

Official timings will not take place however drivers are free to time themselves.

Requirements to run TGP are as follows:
1) Long pants and closed toe shoes
2) Snell 95/M2000 or higher rated helmet
3) No loose cabling or car body parts
4) Car numbers (will be assigned day of event if you don't already have some, Painters tape work fine)


$135 will get you a full day of track time and will get you a minimum of 2.5 hours of seat time. Estimated seat time this year will be closer to 3 hours.

A total of 10 spots are currently available.

Those attending need to be at the track no later than 7:00am Central time. Tech inspection will start once the gates are open and the driver's meet will start at 7:45am. *If you miss the driver's meet and/or tech inspection, your track sessions will be delayed until it is taken care of.

okay guys... i talked to the owners they r letting me know tha they want some poeple with some experience to ride with some who have never been on the track like me.. for a few laps so they can guide them for the time being.. so just was asking for volunteers.. i believe some of you have been on the track before..? there are 5 cars per session there will be 3 sessions... so if there are 5 experienced drivers that have been to the track to sit with some of us...? and i'd like volunteers for other things as well...

i'd love to see yours out on the track lol... but i was actually going to text you and ask you if you could come along... i need 5 experienced drivers who are willing to "sit" with riders for a little while... the novice drivers like me... lol... and i'll let you take mine out there lol so you won't have to pay a track fee.. and you can drive mine around... for a little while.. and if you could be willing to share you overwhelming knowledge with us... about which track line to take lol...

bomjoon i know you have experience was wondering if you wouldn't mind helping out... there are 3 sessions 5 cars per session so, so if i could get some guys to coach the new guys....if you do come..

I've only been to TGPR for 2 diffrent track weekends & one weekend at Barber (6 days total & two were in the MINI). Obviously this is better than no experience but I'm no seasoned pro. If I'm free I'll tag along and give pointers as best I can if needed.

okay thanks! well i talked to the owner.. he just wants someone to ride along with the inexperienced drivers for a little while, he doesn't really care if you have a lot of experience or not, he just wants the new riders to know the track before going all out etc...

Hey, would love to come and meet some new folks but I'll be instructing at Road Atlanta that weekend. I'll keep an eye out for future events. Lil' Tally is a fun track and obviously much safer for a new person starting out than RA.

Chintan, Sean and I are most likely going. We can both do a little instructing early in the day while we're not on track. That's not a problem. We've both instructed at TGPR before.

do you guys wanna run 30 min sessions or an hour session? i've never been so i don't know :)

i was thinking 3 sessions/group

session 1,2,3 then back to 1,2,3 etc...

i think we should do 45 mins each good warm up and cool down... time in b\t sessions..? no :)

45 min is a LONG session. Sessions are usually 15 - 20 minutes for this type of event. Brakes and tires get really hot in the time frame.

^ lol he wasn't going to enter his car, bc its prob not going to be ready... and he actually HELPS me out lol with a lot of stuff... u on the other hand lol, its prob not going to be free for anyone, not even me :( i needed volunteers... but if your entering a car then you still have to pay... if we only get 10 people the price might go up to $165... if we get more it'll stay $135... but if people don't want to pay the difference i'll refund them there cash :-D.. thats why i'm hoping we get 15

Sean and I plan to bring out the Mazda for testing, assuming the cage is completed and the tie rod repaired. The cage keeps getting delayed, but it should be done in a couple of weeks. We'll be cutting it close.
