okay well this is my first evo with a stock ecu.. my old one had aem and i know my way around it pretty well.. so im not to familiar with the stock ecu tuning.. but i have been reading about that tephra mod that allows u to have 2 maps and it supposed to be used with ecuflash. is ecuflash normaly how the stock ecu is tuned?... also br sells a harness/toggle switch that plugs into ur ecu to swap maps.. also you can run speed density. does anyone have experience with this or does any shop have experience with it.. i would like to do a e85 or meth map and 93 map..

Yes the Stock ECU can be set up to run 2 maps with the swich you mentioned. For the best setup you should also install a JDM 3bar or Omni 4bar map sensor so you can run ECU controlled boost. Thaat will allow you to flip the switch & change maps & boost level all at once with no extra adjusment. You can also run speed density on the stock ECU using the 3 or 4 bar map sensor & a GM IAT sensor. There are no local shops that are capable of setting this up at the moment. I'm currently running speed density on stock ECU & finally found someone to figure it out for me (TouringBubble). We just got started setting mine up & are working our way through setting it up & tuning it. The next closest tuner familiar with this setup is TTP in Orlando.

so are you running multi maps?? or just speed density?? and for the iat sensor is it spliced into the maf plug?? maybe we could get together one weekend and hook it up:) who is doing your tuning?

as far as this it would be easier to just go aem..lol

I'm not currently running multi maps but I do have a map swich and will eventually get an e85 map too. I have the temp sensor wired directly to the ECU (new pin). TouringBubble is doing my tuning. He's in Alabama & has been doing a remote tune setup for me & once we get it dialed in a bit more I'll make a trip to him for final tuning. Stock ECU SD is not a quick easy setup/tune cause it's fairly new & most people haven't done alot wiyh it yet.

man im sooo confused by this whole process..lol i am strictly mechanical type of person..lol what do u mean by u dont have multi maps but u do have a map switch.... do you have a comp and change maps that way say for your e85 map? also might sound dumb but what does "sd" mean... like i said i very mechanical type of person not so much ecu.tuning type..lol

I have the buschur racing map switching harness, still in box. I never installed and since I am selling the car I would like to sell it. $20

I bought a map switch cause I plan to get tuned for e85 in the future. I'm just not using it cause I only have one map at the moment. SD = Speed Density ;)

I can help clarify ...
• Yes, you can have 2 tunes on the stock ECU with ECUFlash.
• Yes, you can run SD on the stock ECU with ECUFlash.
• Yes, you can do both at the same time.
• Yes, you can use the switch from Buschur to change the maps.
• With the newest Tephra Patch, you can also use the accelerator to switch maps, saving the cost of the Buschur switch. But, this doesn't currently work with the IX AND Speed Density setup. To run both on the IX you need the switch.
• Yes, ECUFlash is the standard for stock ECU tuning on the Evo.
• SD means Speed Density
• Yes, I'm familiar with the setup and can tune it.

My buddy is running speed density on his, it just takes a little while to figure out how to set up the software. Yes you can run two maps, I believe we use the intercooler sprayer to switch maps, if I remember correctly

could we get a list of what is exactly needed to run dual maps and make it a sticky? I think that would be a great thread

I'll get that to you. I've been slammed here for the last couple of weeks and have had like 0 time to work on other stuff. Sorry for the delay.

To run 2 maps on the stock ECU you don't need much ... just a flash. With Tephra V7, you need no extra hardware.

TouringBubble, how far are you from Columbus? Just curious. What do I need for the "amatuer" enthusiast as far as logging, software, and tuning if I was to meet someone knowledgeable, etc... Also Bigric09 has alot of knowledge. Him and the NC guys I know do ALOT of things and recently opened up their own place in Fayetteville. TouringBubble lemme know.

I'm about 2.5 hours from Columbus, straight down 280/Victory Dr. after a short jog on I-85.
You need the OpenPort 1.3/Tactrix cable, EvoScan and ECUFlash. That's it. From there, the fun starts. =)
