So I installed my Christmas present on Christmas eve eve. Front and rear DBA 4000 series rotors( slotted only) and front and rear Hawk HP+ pads. My question is, are the brakes extemely noisy before they are properly bedded in fully? I attemped to follow hawks bedding procedure but as they started to get heat in them they got unbareably loud, even for me! I installed the metal plates on the back of the pads and properly greased everything with the supplied grease from hawk. I also cleaned the rotors with brake clean before installation like the paper said to do. Now I did some research and found that someone on the RX7 forums said they had to take them all the way to brake fade and then let them cool to bed the pads. But he said nothing about absurd noise during bedding in of the pads and rotors. I removed the pads on Christmas eve and found nothing wrong or damaged. I wrote all this on the iPhone so I hope I covered everything. I have only done about 10 hard stops from about 60mph not all back to back though.

Thanks Craig

MERRY CHRISTMAS

They are going to be that way for awhile Craig. Even then they will still be noisy.

Drove it some more today. They seem to be doing much better. Man they stop! I am locking them up everywhere if I am not paying attention. Sometimes I wish I had ABS.

noisy brakes = working brakes... dont complain.

lol

my only complaint about hawk pads are is they fade on track.

i like the noise factor though....

That is my philosophy as well, but this was absurd. I was 1/2 a mile from my dealership and they could hear me hitting the brakes. I really don't mind the noise, and it's much more to my level of tolerence know(which to most is still very noisy) so I am ok now. Seriously, I am a huge motorsports fan so I know noisy brakes stop, but I have never driven or heard a pro series car(ALMS,Grand Am,HSR) make sooo much brake noise. But again much better now, I think they needed to be bed in still.

i sometimes... well.. all the time stop very slowly to prolong the squeeking of the brake pads when i come to a stop.

i love it. i love when people look at me with a look on their face saying "you need new brake pads" lol

wish i can put a amp on it and a speaker so it could be louder.

Very normal noise when replacing your stock rotors with slotted or drilled/slotted. :)
