think i wanna get a stroker kit for the evo. eventaully wanna track the car out so i figure im gonna wanna do that later on in the mod process so gettin it now would be a smart move and make modding stress a lil easier in the long run. anyone here got one and what you think about it. i know BR has one that everyone knows about but i dont really like BR. im leaning more towards the AMS one but just gettin opinions............................

you really cant go wrong with the AMS stoker, they make top notch stuff. I dont really know anything about the BR kit. I would however do your basic mods first, TBE, cams, gears, intake depending on if you want to or not( its not necisary though), fuel pump, etc. stroker is usually the step you take after those, just my 2cents.

If you're looking to do a lot of road racing you might wanna check into the new 23RR that AMS is doing. It's going to be more pricey than a regular stroker, but it should be superior to normal strokers since they are offering different compression ratios custom specs. Little more info:

Also, like Blewbyyou said, it'd probably be beneficial to do the basic bolt-ons and see where that puts you. Of course that is assuming you're stock.

yeah i already done the basic mods ad bolt ons already. i got the fuel pump and injectors just not installed yet. but the usual intake, TBE and intercooler are already done. i might go with the cosworth cams but havent read the reviews yet but heard great things from friends. cant do much since im in the sand box but just doing alot of research while i have the time without getting too anxious about installing it.

Gotcha.. You have an 8 or a 9? I've got the HKS 280s in my car and have had them for over 47,000 miles now lol. I love em, they give great mid-top end power and don't really sacrifice much, if anything, down low. Also, I've got a few buddies who run the Comp cams and they seem to make some good power and are a bit cheaper than the HKS. Then you've got the new GSC cams, Buschur's new cams, JUNs, just so many now days lol.

When I got mine it was between the HKS 264s, 272s, and 280s and that was it lol. I believe they were the only ones on the market at the time other than maybe some Tomeis or JUNs which are both ridiculously high.

BTW, thanks for serving us!

I have the HKS 272s and love them. I do know that you cannot go wrong with anything Cosworth lol. Are you able to post pictures from there? If you can we would love to see them. Back on topic, I still say go with the AMS stroker kits. Im not sure if its better to do a stroker or upgrade the turbo though. I suppose its all about what you intend to do with the car. ie. AutoX, Drag, still have as daily driver, etc. Which shop to you plan to go with to do your installs?

After driving Ryan's car i agree... those cams kickass! Anyways... If your looking for a good track set up i hear the 2.3 stroker with a 3076 turbo is great.

i got a IX so cams were kinda rare last year. i know vishnu had some that came out but gains werent too much for the mod. i am draggin the car so the stroker will give me the power to add more boost and but may sacrifice rpm's. i plan on doing most of the work myself but andrew will be doing alot too.

AMS is the way to go. Nothing but top of the line would be better for such an important part of your engine. thats my opinion.

The last AMS intercooler kit I saw I was not impressed with. The piping is way to thing and it didn't really fit that well.
