View Full Version : Yet another Evo retiring...

It's been on the back of my mind for some time now and after almost 6 years, it's time for me to retire the Evo and move on. With my family getting to the point where my interaction is ever so crucial (wife and 3 kids), I find myself with less and less time to focus on motorsports.

Will likely pick up an E-Class or something along those lines...anything that has NO modification potential...otherwise I'll be back where I am now.

Look for a part out thread over the next month or so. Will be putting the car as close to stock as possible. Till then, here's a list off the top of my head:

(no prices listed till I figure out what's what)

FP intake
FP Red Turbo (80mm housing/Ported/Upgraded Wastegate and FP oil line)
Custom Lower IC Piping
Custom FMIC 4x12x24
Custom Upper IC Piping (has a bung welded for meth so otherwise not usable)
GReddy Type S BOV
HKS 272 Cams
AEM Tru Time Cam Gears
Crower Springs/Retainers
Forge MBC
Hallman MBC
Turbosmart EBC
Precision 880CC Injectors
Snow Performance/TTP Meth Kit w/ 2.5 Gal Tank
Megan Exhaust Manifold
Megan 3" 02 Housing
3" Downpipe (bought it in 05, cant remember from who)
GReddy Evo 2 Exhaust 3"
Tein Type Flex Coilovers
Road/Race Engineering 25mm RSB (3 way adjustable)
Tanabe 25mm FSB
Ebay RSTB
Perrin Adjustable End Links Front and Rear
ProSport Premium Amber Gauges; Oil Temp/Oil Pressure/Boost (60mm)
Gruppe-S 60mm dash gauge panel
AEM Uego Wideband

That's all I can think of at the moment. To be honest, I'm not really sad to see her go...it's been fun, but more of a money pit than anything else.

I've retained most of the stock parts over the years so trades are unlikely. The few things I don't have are the stock FMIC, piping......and thats about it.

Again, look for the part out thread in a month or so.

Don't think that an MB doesn't have potential to be faster.....get an E63 AMG. :)
How many miles are on the FP Red?

I hate to see anyone move on from such a great car. I'll be honest, I have thought about it sometimes myself. A mundane, gas sipping, cop repelling car would be nice...but where's the fun in that? I have a hard time going back to a slow and boring car after owning an Evo.

Amirite?!

Amirite?!

I think you are. yesterday i was upset about some stuff with the wife. I like to feel a engine when I get that way. I was smashing the peddle down to feel something. (its a GXP G6). It isnt fast by any means, but I was blowing by people left and right for short bursts. NO COP in sight. Had i been in the Evo, the cop would have been right behind me.

On a more technical note... I was impressed with how well the car responded to the mods. And it is a nice lookin EVO...

No such thing as grown up. The car is fast and reliable. I don't see the difference between us and the old guy who buys a vette and upgrades the exhaust. Both are loud. Drive what you like. If you want to grow up go buy a caddy. LOL.

Anthony ain't selling. Starsrcm and I talked him out of it.....unless he came to his senses. We'll just have to corrupt him again if thats the case.

Naw you're right....changed my mind after that Varsity meet. After talkin to y'all (and had a few good races on the way home) I decided to keep it. Not my daily driver anymore though. Figure I'll bring it out of hiding for special occasions. In the mean time, a new build is in the works

I'm glad to see that you figured out that you'd miss it before you sold it. I see too many guys that sell their's and end up regretting it.

I don't regret it but there are times I miss the raw acceleration.
