Looks like you had fun, the pavement looked brittle though & I would imagine cornering is welcomed by a lot of sliding(with all the pebbles, rocks and such).
Care to enlight us? about the condition of the course; elevation, difficult level, etc?
Camera transitions was also good, too bad you didn't have outside footage of the car around the course.

Yeah, I don't generally have anyone to film that and the camera doesn't have a zoom, so it kinda sucks for filming the track.
Yes, our surface at BRC sucks. Many places are breaking up and we have to design courses around those issues. There was lots of loose gravel coming down the hill to the turnaround and back up through the slalom. Braking for that turnaround was that hardest part of the course. The rest of the course had plenty of traction.

I've never autoX'd before--so how much does it typically cost, excluding the cost to prep the car up?

Our events are $40 for non SCCA members, and $30 for members.

I love the multiple camera angles. You really handle the car well. Smooth transitioning considering the poor quality road surface.

An SCCA autocross hosted by Evoatlanta would be a good treat for us evo drivers.

The SCCA has to put it on though and I'm not sure you can just exclude people. As I understand it its done on a points system, so it would just have to be for fun and if thats the case you'd be better off just renting a parking lot or something and doing it that way.

Those were edited out of course ... I had 1 +4 run that day and you could see every one of them.
Actually, SCCA doesn't have to be the one to hold an event. So far this year, our region has hosted 2 non-SCCA events. One for the annual Lotus Owners Group gathering and one for the local Honda plant's race program. It can be arranged, you just need to talk to someone in the local region about use of the equipment.

Matt, post up the cone killing video as well. Those are entertaining & we've all been there. Well atleast those that have autocrossed. I wish we had video of my buddys first autocross in his supercharged Z06. Lets just say it took them a minute to rebuild the course when he was done :D

First time I autoXd, not only did I take out almost half the cones on the course, but I got soo lost, I ended up back at the starting line with red flags waving everywhere.....was known as the DNF King for the longest!

Lol, that would be my problem as well. I would forget where the path is after I'm half way through the course. I'm sure of it. :D

I feel the same way. That is why I just want to jump onto a roadcourse with instruction(driving clinic or the like ) . I drive on roads everyday, no so much bewteen cones

I've done both and to be honest, autoX is a lot more technical. Requires more finess, quick reaction and overall a little more driving ability. The fastest person isn't the one with the most money in his/her car....it's the person with the best skills.
Conversely, road racing in my opinion is a lot more rewarding and much more forgiving in cases where you make minor mistakes, especially with our platforms. You're able to make up for lost time a lot easier than you would on an autox course.

What tire/wheel combo are you using and size?
TouringBubble
10-05-2009, 10:32 PM
Rota Torque 17x7 with 235/45/17 BGF G-Force Sports. My street combo. Nothing special ... just finally learned how to drive it on street tires.

I was running the same tires up until this weekend. The G Force Sports are decent tires for the money. I needed 2 tires this weekend, and nobody had them in stock. So, I ended up getting a full set for a great deal. I got Pirelli P6 all seasons. The ride quality is amazing! I know that they aren't as good as the G Force Sports, but I needed some tires. I expected the handling to be worse, but they aren't too shabby.

Nice vids papa! One safety concern is that finish point(last vid) running up perpendicular to the cars waiting at the start point. Seen too many people come in hot and lose it.

We all agree too. The situation is that our venue has taken away about 70% of the surface we previously had available, so we are trying new things to make the best of the smaller lot. This was our second event on the smaller area, so we are still making changes and mistakes.
