Well I'm almost at 500 miles on the new clutch and yesterday I started hearing this whinning sound above 50mph during both accel and decel. Did some research and talked to the guys at TTP Engineering and Ive come to the conclusion that my transfercase is about to give. It's strange that this just happened after I got the twin disc installed, bt my main concern is getting it fixed before any major damage occurs. Hopefully its not too late. i'll be towing the Evo down to TTP this weekend to let them work their magic once again.

I drove on my whining Tc for almost a year, no racing though. I had some misfortune and at the time couldnt afford a new one. Bought one used that whined, didnt think much of it. Now I have a shep stage 2.

Well you replaced one weak link in the drivetrain.....makes sense that if the TCase was on its way out the clutch helped it. I did a Shep Stage 2 before I ever even drove the car. Funny thing is I have the drive train/clutch combo to handle upwards of 650+ awhp, but I only want 450-500. I figure if I over do it then there is hopefully less of a chance of anything breaking.
Dan says I'm disrespecting my car with my power goals and the drive train I have, says my car deserves mo' powah. LOL. Maybe one day, when 500 isn't enough. LOL.

When i bought my car i planned on addressing that issue before it became one. too many people experience that issue for me to think it may not happen to me.

Dropped the car off at TTP this weekend. They're closed on Saturdays but Scott was nice enough to open up so I could deliver the car. Checked out Disney World this time since we were in the area.....if you haven't been, I would definitely recommend it :)
Transmission and transfer case are being built and an RS LSD installed in the front. They're also installing a new exhaust manifold and intake filter. Will likely opt for a retune as well. I was extremely suprised when I saw how little damage everything was gonna have on my pocket book...made the drive well worth it.
Anyway, hopefully my next post will be good news about the car for once http://forums.maxima.org/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif

Glad to hear they are taking good care of you at TTP. I fear I may be in the same boat as you soon with my new setup. I'm still on stock Trans, TC, & Diff. I like to beat my car like a red headed step child so I'm sure my next project will be replacing a destroyed dirveline.

Goin great so far. I'm actually TDY in Florida at the moment so I'm hoping it'll be done by the time my mission here is complete....will save me from having to drive all the way back to Orlando.
Your username name looks familiar....I think I recognize it from EvoM.

whats the difference in RS front diff and reg diff? i mean i know the 9's have the helical diff in the front. but i dont recall there being a diff only made for the RS.

No difference except the 03/04 TC is different from the 05+. The 03/04 RS was the only model to come with an LSD and yes its helical.
