You can pretty much use anything that is designed to be a car wash soap. Never use dish soap cause it is very harsh & will strip yer wax. It's also recomended to use 2 wash buckets. One with clean soapy water & another with just water to rinse off the wash mit after each section so yer wash mit stays cleaner.

For week to week washes I use Megs Gold class with a sheepswool mitt. The Gold Class foams a good bit (lifts the dirt off the surface) and that combined with a soft sheep wool mitt and the proper 2 bucket method should leave your car defect free, assuming you dry with a drying waffle weave microfiber towel. Target sells some good ones.
When I'm doing details I use Optimum No Rinse Wash, so I can wash the car and use the same solution to clay the car to save time, but its 40 bucks for a gallon of this stuff.

I've been using the Turtle Wax Ice wash. I used to use the Meguiar's Next Gen wash, but I think it is discontinued.

I use meguiars wash and quick detailer along with there clay bar system.
I use turtle wax car wash soap. you seem to get a good amount for the price. just a normal sponge and then absorber brand shami.
I have been wanting to try and use the turtles wax set up for black cars

To expand on my whole set up ...
Turtle Wax Ice wash
Microfiber sponge (the kind with all the little "fingers" all over) with a scrubber on the back
Old microfiber sponge for the wheels
Huge microfiber drying towel (works tons better than my old Absorber shammy)
Mother's Clay Bar
Turtle Wax Ice Wax (the synthetic one that doesn't leave residue)
I have the Meguiar's 3-stage wax that I have used only once. It's really nice if you do those stages and then top with the synthetic for a lasting finish.
But, I only wash my car every couple of months, so this is all useless anyway.
