Ok, so as most of you know I did get a new car. I've had it on order for about 3 months or so and it arrived on Friday. A select few members know what it is and I have asked them to keep quiet about it. For the rest of you, I figured it would be a little fun for you guys to try and figure out what it is. It will be a little game I suppose ;) I'll post up a random picture of the car periodically. I won't be saying yes or no to guesses. If you are convinced you know what it is I expect you to explain why ;)

Driver's glass shape is wrong for a Lotus. Also, there are grease pen marks on the glass noting export/auction.

fwiw, i don't think any jdm mirrors have the 'objects appear closer' label. But the angle of the mirror either tells you that the mirrors are horribly adjusted OR its RHD. And that at least tells us its not a USDM car with stock mirrors :)

My guess off just this 1 crappy pic is a jdm early/mid 90s honda prelude. either a bb1, bb4 or ba8.

no lotus has mirrors shaped like that or that mount with that type of molding ,or are that square that i'm aware of. pretty sure the shape is wrong for any accord, civic or integra.

I am going with Nissan silvia, final answer for several reasons...

1. The mirrors match very well, and it is offered in that color.
2. You said yourself in the "cars you wish you owned" thread that YOU started that you wanted a real silvia to start as a project. If I was guessing, you either started that thread as soon as you ordered the car, or you got the car right then. 3 months is probably the import and legal stuff.
3. You work at a mainly Nissan shop... Of course it's gonna be nissan.

Just because you see one in every video game and maybe one or two R32s on the road doesn't mean anything. They might see them online, but that doesn't mean that they will see them on the road. Long story short, mad props for an amazing car! I would give the Evo up in a minute to own one of those. It actually wasn't that recent. There has been even more recent activity since then that has made things harder. You're talking about the Motorex incident. There is a ton of information out there that people either don't know or don't look into deep enough. Swapping VIN's is not a good idea and registration can be done fairly easily.

I agree. I've heard that before too and I could never figure out where people were getting that idea. There is only 1 R34 around this area and the owner rarely drives it. That being the case I would say they are pretty rare. For those of you who don't know there are only 14 original Motorex (50 state legal) R34s in the U.S. These cars are very difficult to deal with. I still think it is worth it though :)

Theft would be pretty pointless. Very easy car to spot as it is extremely rare. Next to no market for parts. Once parts go up for sale it is easy to catch. You must have all of the paperwork in order to drive it, etc etc.

Well, you have to consider other things ... like someone stealing it and selling it off to someone who wants a track car for $20k. They have it resprayed for $500 and it's never registered again and not trackable.

Everything I listed prior plus HKS IC and piping, HKS EVC, harnesses (which I wont be needing), nismo tach, and camber arms.

As far as trusting someone to pick a car out for you, that's a bit tricky. It's a judgement call. The car was kept in very good condition, I would say 9/10.

You get used to it, but switching back and forth is weird ...

You often try to get in the wrong side to drive
You glance at the A pillar often to check your rear view
You look over your shoulder the wrong way or too much/little to check blind spots. This is really funny when you bump your head on the window.
You use the wipers instead of the turn signal half the time
you think a LOT about what gear you are in and where you are shifting next. (This is the only part that I never got used to. I could rev match downshifts after a few days, but could never heel/toe properly)
