Do you guys swap out the copper crush washer on the drain bolt to the oil pan every time you change your oil? I am all out of them and Pep Boys doesn't carry crush washers-only flat copper washers. I usually get mine from the stealership.

Maybe I'll be ok for now using the old one. I will have to get some more.

I would say you would be more than okay. I have done every other for the 48k miles on my car, and never had a leak

When I get my filter from the dealership they give me a crush washer with the filter. Normally they give me the filter too, helps to be a tech!!

I've only changed mine a couple of times. If it isn't leaking, there is no need to replace IMO. But, if you get it from the dealer you may as well use the new one. I use WIX filters that are shipped from my oil guy, so I get no new washers.

Matt, how do you like the WIX filter? i switched to Amsoil and am a preferred member. i was thinking of picking up some of those filters since i only have one more oem one

I was told by my oil guy that the WIX filters go in to bypass later and are therefore better for high performance applications. The micron rating is as good as the competitors and it supposedly filters for a longer period ... that's a win win to me.

I used the old washer and it is holding up fine with no leaking. So far, so good.

you can use any sort of gasket, copper or paper type. there's no pressure in the oil pan.
