I got a LICP from EvolvedGTI (Thanks Jon :D) last week and decided to install it today. I know that the gains will be more beneficial when I get retuned, but I am waiting to have my MBC installed and a retune at the same time. Everything went smoothly with the install. I had to remove the bumper to get to the brackets holding the OEM LICP in place. After removing the old pipe, I just popped the new one on and "reset" the ECU by unhooking the battery for a minute. This supposedly allows the ECU to "see" the difference in air flow(from what I've heard). It in no way is like a tune though.

As for a difference in driving the car, I felt an immediate improvement over the old one. It pulls so much smoother and harder. Spoolup is definitely faster. However, at WOT I am spiking to almost 24-25psi for a second before boost starts to taper. This makes me a little nervous. I am careful not to let it spike from now on.:o

Thanks Tripp! Do you have a LICP as well? If so, could you tell a difference?

i do have one, and i could tell a difference as well. i cant remember if i replaced it alone or with the upper at the same time.... i think by itself. it seems like each time i did something new with piping, it made a difference.... a good difference

Did you notice the same spiking issue? Do you have a boost controller?

I'm worried that I will hurt something on my stock engine spiking that high, even if it's for a second.

us X guys hardly dont see any gains in an aftermarket licp at all, stock piece is well made...as far as boost is that high for yall guys cars? heck my boost is set 27 or 28 tapering down to the low 20's by redline...never the less congrads on another new part brett

Thanks Ryan! I'm sure it would be fine to boost to 24-25 for a sec, but I'm paranoid. Engines are expensive to repair...

My car's boost is set to 26, but spikes at 29.5 sometimes...

I doubt the spike will hurt it as it's so split second that it doesnt even register on my digital gauge. (i just check the highest boost)

Sounds like the X runs safer at higher boost. Although, it probably won't hurt my VIII for a second.
