so its that time to get tuned. Does everyone go to forged for the most part. I like the mellon tunning option, but it looks like alot to buy and somewhat confusing. Ive heard good things about forged lately, but never been there. Any negative reviews from them? Are they resonable priced for tunning. Its just a basic tune for basic bolts on for a IX rs. Thanks

I'll let everyone else chime in as my opinion is biased, but its an easy process and we are reasonably priced :)

I went their. Reasonably priced, everyone is hella nice, and when my car was being retarted because AL had locked my ECM, Sharif stuck with it to get it resolved. I have been told they have one of the best dyno's for tuning as well. But I have not had my car tuned anywhere else, so I have no impressions of other shops. Good luck and post your results!

Its just hard to trust my car to anyone. Being a master tech for so long, its tuff for someone else to work on my car. But i know i will have to find someone to trust :D. Either way please more people chime in, want to know everyone opinion. Thanks for those who have posted so far, Forged is the front runner now lol. What do they use to tune? Sorry if its a new question, still kinda new to the evo scene.

^+1 with Mouse. Prolly the best dyno for tuning. If you are doing a basic bolt on tune then take it to Forged. Don't look at pricing for this. This is were you want to spend the money to do it right!! Not saying Forged charges a lot or anything. Sharif will give you a safe and reliable daily driver tune.

what is the average a IX puts down with basic bolt ons(walboro, mbc, tbe, intake)? I know there are different dynos also. What is the equation for calculating the differences? Thanks again for the replies guys

Comparing dynos and dyno numbers is an attempt in futility. Every dyno is different and all give vastly varying numbers. All you should be looking at is the before and after numbers. If a dyno shows a gain of 50 hp and your max power only reads 250 hp all you should be concerned with is that you got 50 more hp! A dyno is a tuning tool, plain and simple. This is very important to remember! That being said, I'd say the average ix with those mods puts down around 310-330 depending on boost and the tuner on a dynojet. On a dynodynamics I would suspect 270-290? Ryan would know as I'm not familiar with Forged Performance's dyno. The only true gauges of performance IMO are lap times and trap speed. Those don't lie or give you an inflated performance number.

Edit: It is also important to remember that every car is different! It's weird but some cars just make more power than others. I know of one MR that is just a factory freak and makes noticeably more power than the average MR.

if you can give me a detailed list of your mods I can give you a rough estimate of around what you should expect on our dyno. As Hikaru mentioned, every car is different and may make more or less. Also keep in mind that weather conditions, altitude, etc can play into the calculation as well. So many factors come into play ;)

Mine made 308 AWP and 291 Ft/lbs @ 20 PSi on Sharif's dyno. I have walbro 255, HKS 272's intake and exhaust, Aeromotive Fuel pressure regulator, MBC, BR hard pipes, BR intake, BR Magnaflow 3" exhaust, BR intercooler, and SMC meth. kit. Safe tune and gained 35 HP from the crappy tune Al did on the car orginally. I cant complain. I am going to re-tune for more boost and then get it dyno'd on a dyno jet in NC just to see the difference in dyno number, simply for curiousity. PS I know how you feel about being a tech and letting someone else touch your car. Sharif took the time to let me stand right next to him and he explained everything as it was happening, I learned alot that day.

I would expect a pretty solid pickup from 4-5 psi with your setup ;) You left a lot on the table and now that you have the Halman you should be good to go.

No 35 HP from the orginal tune with those mods!
