Track Car Updates

In direct response to my previous thread it seems that the majority would like to see my updates return to the forum. For those of you who do not know the history of this car, it is about as fully built as I know how to do. The majority of the current work on the car has been done/is being done at CBRD Speedfactory which is the main sponsor on the car. In the recent months the car has been going through a large transformation including a Voltex wide body, new turbo setup, an extreme diet, and is in the process of getting a full roll cage. I will try and post up pictures of the progress as I receive them. The car should be completed in the next month or so.

We got the rear doors to fit fine after 5 hours of modifying them. The front doors are unusable, just absolute trash. We physically can't get the windows to fit in the doors, there are no window backets/provisions, they dont line up, etc. It's been even more of a nightmare because Seibon has had such poor customer service no helping us at all and telling us to just keep messing with them even after we requested to just return them and either send us a new set or refund the money. It's been a nightmare and I will never buy or recommend Seibon ever again. Parts get a D customer service/support gets a F-.

Your car was a track car the day it rolled off the showroom floor. ;) I agree it would be nice to have a dedicated track beast, but I was suprised at how well my car did on the track with stock tires, stock suspension, & bolt ons (no cams).The entire weekend at Barber I was never had anyone come up on me to even warrant a point by. I was in the beginner group (2nd time on track & 1st with Evo) which has a lot to do with that I'm sure but it was full of Porsche's, M3's, & similar cars. The Evo is just too easy to drive fast.

I know exactly what you mean. My estimated completion date for my Evo has changed quite a bit also. I've finally realized it's gonna be ready when it's ready. It's getting closer though.

you talking about the D300? LOL i almost bought one of those. the d90 and d300 have the same sensor, they are basically the same camera but the d300 has a few more little odd and end options. its just too big and heavy for my rig. less weight hanging out there the better!!!

No, that's Sharifs camera. I have a Canon 50D. I think it takes better pictures than Sharif's, but then again neither me or Sharif know how to take professional pics the way you do ;) I'm sure whatever you use would come out 1000x better than any of mine. Oh and did you say something about a rig :D

Ya, I'll have to do that. =( Sorry to hear that. These cars do tend to have issues when launching with high hp. Hopefully you can get her back up soon.

It was 2700 before the cage. However it also now has, carbon doors, lighter carbon hood, carbon roof, carbon driveshaft, carbon seats (8.8lbs each), moustache bar eliminator, solid diff support bushings. I am hoping it will balance out and end up right around 2700 with the cage and all of that stuff. I'll put it back on the scales once everything is in. The cage weighs about 130 lbs.

Same color as before, leaving the trunk, hood, and roof and splitter carbon.

Nope, I actually have 2 Recaro Profi SPA's coming. They weigh about 8.8 pounds each. Should be here in the next couple of weeks. Both of those seats combined weigh 1/2 of what that 1 seat does.

She's getting there. Goes to paintshop next week. Final weight reduction the week after, and some final fab work the week after. Then it needs tuning, and track testing.

Ok guys, here are the updated pictures as it sits right now. It's coming together. We are in the middle of making a rear wing support so the Voltex wing actually is pushing down on the chassis of the car and not just the trunk. The carbon trunk is providing to be flimsy and difficult to deal with so we may go back to the OEM trunk. We are also considering switching from the KW 3 way race/rally dampers to a JRZ triple adjustable setup. I am trying to have the car ready to test a few laps in Nashville in 2 weeks, but time is getting short and we are still waiting on a number of parts that have yet to come in. Unfortunately yes. I am in a position where we are having to change to a different setup as the KW's are not ideal for what we would like to do with the car. It sucks as this is not by choice and the KW's were great and are basically brand new. They will just not work with what we plan to do with the car.

yes they are, and yes I am still doing T/A. It is a bit frustrating for myself as well as I had the same thought process as you do. Apparently we are not able to run the correct camber and make adjustments in the way we would like on the widebody setup with the 10.5 inch wide wheels. It will either rub on the inside fender well or the outside depending on where the camber is set. It worked perfectly on my last setup on the stock body, but those were 9 inch wide, and I am sure it would work fine on 9.5's as well.

ya they should be fine for 3. They are a great suspension. Certain suspensions allow for a different range of adjustability, that's all :)

You would be surprised. With 10.5 inch wide wheels it doesn't look as sideways as you would think. We won't be running this kind of camber at every track, we would just like to be able to have the ability to use this range of motion should we choose to do so.

It's only a 1.2 mile track, so it really is low speed. I doubt I will get out of top of 3rd ;) We'll see though.

I dig it, obviously most of the body additions are for weight and function, so even though I dont think some of them look 100% great, I know they are there for a reason. good luck.

With your power/weight ratio, this car should HAUL ASS. I need to get the weight down in my car also. Mine is at 3,100 lbs with the cage. 3,335 lbs with me in it. It's a pig plus I'm overweight!

I'm running a custom 33R, the same turbo you see on the CBRD track car. It delivers far more power than the Red while still maintaining good spool. Remember it's a time attack car, not a drag car :p

Mine weighs 2925 with the cage and me in it ;) I'm a little guy, so that helps my case.

I did all of my own weight reduction myself minus the roof and the doors which were done by CBRD. I still have some work to do. I'm pretty confident that I can shave another 50 pounds off of the car. The heater core, blower motor are still in the car along with OEM front doors with the crash bars and all 4 window motors. I just havn't had time to remove them quite yet. The cost really depends on how much weight you want to lose. A good bit of it can be done yourself, PMing you now.
