This is by no means set in stone and planning has not even really started. I was interested to see how many of you would be interested in a track day exclusive to EvoAtlanta members & friends. Myself and Chad @ CBRD have been talking about renting out a track and getting a few other participants to join at a track day that would be local to our area. i.e Road Atlanta, Nashville, CMP, etc. Price would be completely dependent on how many people we get. You do not have to commit to anything just yet. I am just curious to see how many of you would be genuinely interested in something like this.

I REALLY REALLY would. i am in the process of buying a 'family' car. the wife says once we have another car, I can come out and play. It just wasnt smart on one car. I have made a promise to my self to take breaks this year. after one month of work, i am alotted 14days of "rotation" If I have enuff notice, i could plan a rotation, assuming i have the other vehicle.

I'd love to, but I'm not sure when I'd be able to make it. I'd also recomend TGPR if we have a lot of 1st timer interest since it's the perfect beginners track & still lots of fun for the rest of us. Not to mention relatively cheap.

Ryano, it's not about being good or bad at it. It's about having fun and learning how to handle your car at more extreme levels of driving.

Andy, do you have anymore info on that track? I'm always open to ideas. RA can be a bit challenging, but I think Nashville and CMP would be fine for beginners.

Ok, I'll start looking into getting something together during say June/July? We will need 10+ participants for this to be worthwhile, or else price will be too high.

I wouldn't expect you to pick a date due to me, but maybe a poll would be worthwhile. (to fugure when people would like!)
i am taking a rotation5/22-6/4, so i would be able to do another after 7/4. I planned on taking another mid to late july because that is when i will be buying another car! If I can't make this, i could always make the next.

I think the site is tgprace.com or something like that. I remember it being about $200 per person (12 people) on a weekday & $300 per person on a weekend. I've also heard theat Roeblng in Savanah is a good beginners track with little elevation change & only one wall I beleive.

Ryano the key is to drive within your comfort level. Don't try to keep up with anybody else cause that can get you into trouble really quick. Its not racing. It's just a place to play with your car without speed limits. Most tracks will allow you to ride along with another experienced driver to get an idea of what they are doing. Also you can have one ride with you & give pointers. The great thing about car people is they are almost always willing to help out a fellow driver. I was actually a bit suprised at my first autocross when I was asking people for pointers I was offered a few ride alongs. Keep in mind that Autocross is competition & having an extra 270lbs in yer passenger seat doesn't help. Although everyone wants to get thier best time they don't mind helping out & making you feel at home. In the end it's all about having fun. There is no prise at the end of a track day. Just a big grin & everybody gets one.:D

Count me in! You know I love the track. This would be a perfect learning experience for me to learn the Evo. I had fun at Road Atlanta in my S2000. I have a helment, what about corner workers, I have been researching this on my own and I have heard you have to supply your own corner workers. Just curious. GREAT IDEA!! Let me know what I can do to help! Craig

Most tracks will provide corner workers for a fee. I think TGPR charges $100 per corner worker per day.

Barber is another great track and probably less expensive than RA. the elevation changes there make it extremely fun to drive. It's easier to learn than RA as well.

Ohhh Barber would be fun!! Went there for an AMA race very cool track. sort of narrow though.

I did Barber last year with BMW CCA & it was a lot of fun. I don't think we can do Barber or RA without a lot of people to bring the cost per person down.

Barber is just as expensive as RA for groups

RA is probably too challenging of a track for most guys with no track experience. I guess you could always just be more careful and take it easy, but it may be a better idea to shoot for a less challenging track.

Talladega Gran Prix is, without a doubt, the best track for beginners in our area.

I just got back from Talladega Gran Prix, they did some more minor improvement. Very nicely done now. Yes, this is probably one of the best track for people who don't have experience.

i was in the small group. around 15 cars. 3 cars on track at once. Got a great time at track. The only thing is after 4 runs, the tires started to getting grease and brake faded a little bit. decided to left earlier to avoid the stupid ATL traffic.... The track normally runs much cheaper on week days if anyone wanted to be on the less expansive side.
