View Full Version : Need some new tires
My bridgestone's are down to the wear bars and i just need some stock size tires that aren't to pricey. i had RE050A pole positions on it, stock size and i got around 22k out of them on daily driving and a few auto'x. At the time, i paid 144 apiece for them so im trying to stay a bit under that.
Toss up some ideas/opinions (i haven't been researching at all)

Bang for the buck hands down is the Dunlop Z1 Star Spec. 255/40 17 is $156 I believe from Tirerack. Plus I think there is a $50 rebate when you buy 4

^ What he said. That's what I recommend to most of our customers.

Bridgestone is doing a $100 Visa Gift card if you buy any four tires. I got an email from Bstone Marketing saying that this deal is good on the new RE11s tires as well.
Edit: I drank the RE11 kool-aid and I like it :)

you just missed the Bridgestone RE01R discount.. I think the 17s were like $100 each. I got my spare 18s for $128 each. Try PM Neal @ EvolutionM to see if he still got something in stock.

I recently purchased the BFG G-Force Sports for my street tires. They are surprisingly good for the specs. Much better wet grip than the low tread wear competition street tires. The sidewalls are a bit softer though.
the tread wear is 360 and they seem to be wearing true to that, which is what I specifically wanted. I autocrossed them once and managed 4th overall in raw times, edging out Evos and STis on 615s and Star Specs, as well as some Miatas on Hoosiers. So, they can perform if you put effort in to it.

^I think you're driving had a lot to do with your placement. If you'd been on star specs or REO1Rs you prolly would have won.

I agree with Hikaru. I'm currently on G-force Sports (came with my wheels) and they're decent, but even with a 275/40 17 I pushed them to their limits going around a circular off ramp and was sideways half way through the off ramp lol. Very controllable tire and they will last a while though. I believe the previous owner put about 10k street miles on them at 3 autox's and still have roughly 6-8k miles left in them including the 5k I've put on them so far.
Id go with Star Specs though.

Yeah, that's why I qualified the statement. They are easily overdrivable. If you want a super grippy tire, the G-Force Sport is not for you.

The G Force Sports are decent and they last. However, there are better alternatives in the same price rance. I have been running mine for a couple of years now.

Interesting ... mine are pretty quiet. Definitely quieter than the Advans and RS2s. Louder than AVS ES100s though.

I was fine with the G-Force Sports while they lasted. I didn't notice much noise with my set. Especially compared to the shitty Poxies 4 tires. They don't hold heat very well though.
