On my old GSR I used AMS oil injector cleaners every oil change on a full tank for good measure. Can't find any here in ATL. Do you guys have any suggestions?

I don't see any reason to use it that often, but I doubt it hurts anything. I usually do that kind of stuff in the 30k-40k range. I use BG 44k when I do, but I get it from a place I work at. I don't think it's sold in stores.

Honestly, with the recent advances in fuel detergents, injector cleaners aren't needed nearly as often. Even 87 octane has detergents now ... the same mix as the high octane stuff with most brands. I'm with Shunder ... 30k or so should be more than enough on our cars and even then would make little difference.

Now, cleaning the intake and oil system is a different story. Since most vehicles pass oil back to the intake (PCV/Valve cover vent), oil residue can build up in the intake system and head and decrease performance. The same goes for the oil system. With extended use and heat, deposits and sludge can make it way in to places and can stand to be cleaned.

Something like SeaFoam can address both of these issues and works rather well. It helps clean the IM, valves and cylinders when introduced to the intake system, and can be used as an oil additive to break down sludge. I don't recommend running the car hard when using as an oil treatment though as it's not as good of a lubricant as your premium synthetic oil. You're only supposed to run it a couple hundred miles and then drain the oil anyway.
