Well as most of you know I have been in a long process of putting my track car on a diet. Previously the car weighed in at 3060 pounds. I had already done some weight reduction when I had weighed the car such as carbon hood, carbon trunk, ams lightweight battery, removed spare tire, jack, all trunk interior taken out, and a good deal of weight was taken off by switching to my brembo 6/4 brakes and 3 way race coilovers.
Since weighing the car last I have removed the entire interior including rear seats, all pillars, all speakers, headliner, carpet, interior sound deadening, firewall sound deadening, seat belts, overhead dome lights, door panels, o shit handles, visors, sunglass holder, interior tar/adhesive, misc brackets such as sunglass holder bracket, oshit handle brackets, visor brackets (these have to be cut out, cant be put back in), intercooler sprayer resevoir, Evap system, front ac fan,and about 8 pounds of wiring. The main wiring harness has not been touched yet and the AC and heater are both still in the car.
We put the car up on the scales today and it weighed in at 2826, which is 234 pounds of weight taken out of the car since last time. Keep in mind we still had about 30 pounds of tools and misc interior crap in the trunk that should/could have been taken out, it was just sitting there. Keep in mind the AC which weighs 40 pounds is also still in the car. All things considered I think I have made pretty good progress with getting the weight down. Im trying to get it around 2725-2750 once the AC is out and everything remaining has been removed. I think I will be very close to my target.
I also have a nice list of parts I need to buy which should get me in the 2600-2650 range before the cage goes in. Just thought you guys would be interested to see some of the weight we have gotten out of this thing ;)

Very nice. When is it going back on the track?

shooting for June, but theres is still so much work to do that I'm not sure if I will make that date or not. I'm trying to get it finished down here as fast as I can, it still has to make stops at AMS and CBRD.

You can probably lose some more weight by adding a lighter driver. :D

That is ridiculously light! I bet even the Japanese track Evos aren't that light.

From what I gathered from weighing the car today if I just remove the entire AC and all the misc tools, random stuff in the trunk ( I have been putting a bunch of useless stuff back there just to get it out of the way, such as tools, random oil containers, some interior parts that will be out of the car once finished, etc) it should be around 2750 now. As mentioned before, I just wanted to get a ballpark figure of how light the car was getting. I should have a better detailed weight within about 2 weeks or so.

That was kind of the point. :D At least you commented on my smartass remark. Ryan skipped right over.

Car must have a full roll cage, oem windows/windshield, and dash to compete in modified class. I would also not trust those brakes through a full 20 minute session. AutoX is not stressful on brakes compared to road racing/time attack. Even the full Cyber Evo which is in Unlimited class only weighs 2550.

I'm trying to figure out how the Cyber Evo got 200 pounds more out of the car than I think I will. Anyone has any crafty ideas for additional weight reduction that would allow me to stay in Modified Class?

Is this the Japanese Cyber Evo, or the one built for US time attack. I believe the rules are different in Japan.
Just curious about rule 1.2.4.
Doesn't the Cyber Evo also run Fiber glass rear doors and windows? You know the one piece deal. Never mind 2.2.4 and 2.2.6 ruin this, but I know the Japanese Cyber Evo and the HKS CT230R runs these rear door assemblies.

Although expensive, your pockes dont seem to be shy! how bout CF doors with oem glass, and the AMS roof? and not sure if you have them but lightweight moustache bar and the like! and does it have to have the front and rear crash beam? thats a good 30lbs or so

To clarify, this is the Japanese Cyber Evo. My point was not about the rules and regulations for the Cyber Evo as the Japanese Cyber Evo runs in Unlimited class, not Modified. In unlimited you can run any glass setup and the rules are much more flexible hence the "unlimited" ;) In Modified class, which is the class I am setting this car up for, the rules are much more strict. See the link I provided for details. There are also several rules that are exceptions to other rules previously stated as you have found ;) You will also find that both the Cyber Evo and the HKS CT230R both have full roll cages in them. The Evo posted up previously weighing 2320 has no cage. You will also see that the the Cyber and HKS Evo both have a dash.

Good points Jon. You think the same way as I do. I already have plans for the car to stop at AMS and CBRD. At AMS it will be fitted with CF Doors (4), CF Roof, AMS moustache bar, AMS front cross member, and to answer your question, both front and rear crash beams have already been removed. However, AMS will also be doing the roll cage, which will make almost all of the above mentioned a wash. If they balance out equally I will be looking right at 2750 with the full cage. This still leaves 200 lbs on the table between my car and the Cyber Evo. I have found through this process that everything you think is dropping weight is not dropping nearly as much as you think. You will see the car tomorrow and scratch your head the same way I am. I have also heard 2 thoughts. Replace all the nuts and bolts with Titanium ones, or other lightweight metal. Or, drill holes directly through the center of them. I have never thought about the drilling until a customer did it and shaved 125 pounds off of the car. I would have to look into this further to see if it is even safe and/or legal.

I have, but Im not sure it would we worth the cost. I believe if I decide to repaint after the dipping it's almost a wash and would in the end just clean up the look and provide very minimal weight savings. Plus it is very expensive, which I dont mind as long as it will be worth it.
Also want to add that lightweight seats are coming and should also help significantly.

If done professionally it is 100% safe, but I have my doubts.

Quick update. We have finished removing the entire AC unit. This includes the compressor, condensor, and all of the lines. We have also taken out a ton of wiring, and a bunch of misc metal brackets behind the dash that are not needed. Weighed everything in a box and seems we have squeezed another 55 pounds off of the car. We are almost finished behind the dash and everything should start getting put back together today or tomorrow. Car is leaving early next week to go to CBRD. Here are a few pics of the wiring mess and a box of removed parts not including the AC stuff.

The car runs now. Even with the wiring mess it runs ;) We have only deleted wires in which we don't need. I'm still trying to find a way to drop some more weight.
