Anyone know what shops in the area have a good fabricator for fabricating a SSCA track legal cage? Or is there any aftermarket companys that you can purchase a pre-fabricated unit and just weld it in yourself. I have limited access to a tubing bender and welder, but I want to make sure it will properly pass tech. for track events and possibly down the road some NASA and SCCA racing. I dont think bolt in cages are legal in SCCA, I plan on welding in one. Thanks for any help.

you can buy aftermarket bolt on cages but its better to have them made for you.

EPM can fab you a cage

they is in AL though... but they do good work.

For SCCA time trials a 4 point bolt in is legal. I don't think NASA requires cages for their TT races.

Make sure you can walk from your car finacially if you plan TTing or doing wheel to wheel.

break the wrist, walk away.....

??? Confused... lol. As far as cage fabrication goes Mainstream can make you cage too. I believe Turbo Dave works there still and he's done some amazing fab work for Supra, 240s, etc. I know he does cages too. You can contact EmminoDaGreat on here. He works at Mainstream.

Also I believe autopower makes a "bolt in" cage and so does Cusco, but the Cusco unit is $$$

meredith said you need to be able to walk away... ever watch napolean dynomite? the karate teacher said "break the wrist, walk away". he made walking away look easy, even from an evo... maybe...

Bolt on cages are not legal in all the racing I have looked into. I used to have a Cusco 4 point in my S2000, they call them show cages for a reason. I guess I will just look through the rule book and determine what I want to do. I know that Kinetic Speed shop does a ton of Porsche and BMW race prep, pretty great guys up there too, quailty work and I know that they race SCCA. Thanks for the help.

I understand racing is not cheap. Thanks for the help on the cages.

Make sure you check your classing too. I don't think cams are legal in touring 2 for scca club racing (which the evo falls in). Good luck!

The reason for the want of a SCCA approved cage is so that I will never have to worry if my cage will pass tech. I am planning for the future. I just figured if I am going to have cage, why not one that will always pass tech.
